FOURTH GRADE NEWS

Welcome to Fourth Grade
From Mrs. Pickles:
The 4th and 5th graders will be singing "Are you Sleeping" solo and in canon the week of August 27th during music class. Students who demonstrate wonderful musical skills will be invited to participate in the Skaggs Honor Choir and the North Texas Children Choir.
Language Arts
genre: Realistic fiction
skill: story structure
grammar: Simple and complete subject and predicate
roots: frac/frag, duct
Comprehension and grammar test will be the week of September 24
Math
Unit Targets:
*Name and represent numbers to the billions place
*Understand decimal place value: tenths and hundredths
*Write fractions as decimals and decimals as fractions
Unit vocabulary: decimals, tenths, hundredths, millions, ten millions, hundred millions, billions
The Unit 1 test is scheduled for Monday, September 10.
Science
Students will learn to differentiate between different forms of energy including mechanical, light, and thermal energy.
Content Vocabulary- hypothesis, variable, conclusion, analyze
