ECLC Class News
Week of 5/23-5/26
What we did this week ...
This week, I read the books Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed, Five Little Monkeys with Nothing to Do, and we reread Pete the Cat and his Groovy Buttons to tie it into our subtraction lesson.
For our centers, the students sorted words by nonsense and real words. They did subtraction using Pete's Groovy buttons. The students bowled to create subtraction problems.
We celebrated Sophia's birthday today. She brought in munchkins for the class to enjoy. She enjoyed having us sing to her.
The students bowled today. They marked off how many pins they knocked over, then counted how many pins were left.
Beginning Letter Sounds and cvc Words
This was a center the students enjoyed this week. They would look at the each picture, to determine the beginning letter in that word. After they found all of the letters of the word, they would read the word, and find the picture that matched the word.
Other things we did this week ....
In phonics, the students tapped out sounds to read nonsense words and words that contained digraphs. I dictated words and sounds to the kids. They practiced writing the letters x and k, and numbers. I have seen a big improvement in each student's handwriting over the school year.
We learned the sight word have this week.
Just a reminder, ECLC does not meet tomorrow due to the half day schedule.
Have a great weekend.
