Ignite!

Wolf Creek Public Schools Literacy Summit 2016

Register Early

We are pleased to offer IGNITE 2016, the first annual WCPS Literacy Summit. This two day event begins with featured keynote speaker, Sue Jackson as she walks administrators and coaches through the journey of, “Creating and Leading Literacy”. Sue Jackson is a National Literacy Consultant for Scholastic Canada and an enthusiastic and innovative speaker, author, consultant and educator. In the afternoon, Sue, along with some of our WCPS school based and central office based leaders will offer literacy leadership break-out sessions focused on many topics including: literacy structures, literacy resources, literacy intervention, literacy focused collaborative response models and much more. Each of these breakout sessions will hone in on practical comprehensive literacy implementation strategies.

Day Two focuses on “Leveraging Literacy”and is targeted at grade K-9 classroom teachers and learning coaches. Sue Jackson will lead a full day session based on the components of a comprehensive literacy environment. Sue will also facilitate discussion, collaboration, and planning around practical implementation of Scholastic’s Literacy Place resources. Although this session is aimed towards K-9 classroom teachers, it would also be beneficial for administrators and district office personnel to attend as it will allow them to deepen their understanding of the role Scholastic’s Literacy Place resources play within a comprehensive literacy environment.
