Mrs. McGee's Message
Resource Teacher
Welcome to the 2013-2014 school year. I am one of three resource teachers here at OES, along with Mrs. Gordon and Mrs. Aylor. If your child has an active IEP for resource, one of us will be your child's case manger and working closely with the HR teacher to ensure access to their grade level curriculum along with working on their individual goals as outlined in the IEP. This year I am starting off working with students in Gr. 1 and 5, along with morning K. It is always subject to change as we occasionally need to adjust to meet a child's needs.
Depending on your child's IEP, I usually service your child in one of three settings. Your child may be with me during the grade level intervention block to address goals in Reading, Writing, and/or Math. I may work with them in a collaborative setting within the HR. Or I may do a combination of both. I will have a para educator to assist me. She will see that the supplementary aids and services are being followed when I am giving specially designed instruction to another student(s).
My goal is to aid your child in developing strategies to having a successful school year both socially and academically, while at the same time setting high expectations for them.
One way your child can be successful that you can help with is to encourage your child to complete their homework and keep it organized so they can turn it in the next day each night.
If you have any questions or concerns throughout the year, please feel free to contact me using my school email or phone message.
Thank you. I look forward to working with your child this year.
