Thomas Jefferson, The Man, The President, The Writer.

The third President of the United States, believed in a small, weak federal government that put a priority on defending individual rights and freedoms, including the right to rebel against the government. He also believed strongly in freedom of religion. He disagreed with Adams about the war in France. Adams believed in neutrality, but Jefferson believed American should help the French people fight for the same freedoms Americans had fought to receive. He was a writer, inventor, politician, lawyer, diplomat and dynamic leader. He was quite tall but had a speech impediment that made him seem a little goofy in person. He had a complicated personal life after his wife died at a fairly young age.
