First Day Thank You!
Please know that we appreciate your understanding as we try to refine all systems at NGHE, including online registration, class change requests, payments, and check-in. We have already learned a great deal from the Spring Semester (our first semester as new leaders of NGHE) and now from the first day of the Fall Semester last Monday!
In the meantime, we are working to confirm all classes and schedules with parents. Please check your email INBOX. A confirmation email was sent for every student for parents to review and ensure that classes scheduled are correct. If you see any descrepanices or need to make a change to your student's schedule, please email alex@northgahomeschool. org as soon as possible.
If your student did not attend their first day at NGHE due to vacation travels or illness, please stop by the front desk before their first class to receive their information packet and t-shirt. For the Spring 2016 Semester (which begins on Monday, January 11, 2016), plans are already underway to have the front desk open prior to the first day so parents can stop by for "early check-in" and avoid first-day lines.
Classroom Reassignments
If your student is enrolled in 12:30 Improv or 2:30 Gleeful Noise, please note these important classroom reassignments:
12:30 Improv and 2:30 Gleeful Noise have both been moved from WAC-Gym to WAC-D (last room on right directly off the inside of the Gym).
As with last Monday, we will have extra helpers to guide students to their classrooms.
Student Pick-Up Reminder
Payment Plan - Withdraw Date Changes
However, this system has taken more time to set up than originally planned. Because of the set-up time involved, we have had to shift the dates for automatic withdraw by two weeks.
Now monthly payments will be withdrawn on or near the 15th of the month instead of the 1st of the month. If the 15th falls on a weekend, then the payment will be withdrawn on the Monday immediately following. In the case of August, payments will now be withdrawn on Monday, August 17.
- Monday, August 17, 2015
- Tuesday, September 15, 2015
- Thursday, October 15, 2015
- Monday, November 16, 2015
(Note: For late registrants, payments will be deducted Sept. 15, Oct. 15, Nov. 16 and Dec. 15. If an auto-payment is declined due to an expired credit or debit card, or due to non-sufficient funds/credit limit, a fee of non-payment fee of $30 will be assessed.)
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we refine the system to offer payment options. If you have any questions about your account, or to update your preferred payment option, please email info@northgahomeschool.org or call 404.985.7686.
NGHE "Snack Shack"
- Bottle Water
- Juice
- Granola Bars
- Fresh Fruit
- Apple Sauce
- Microwave Popcorn (or Pirate's Booty)
- Chips
- Candy Bars
We are working hard to offer a balance of both healthy snack options and fun treats for when your student is feeling a bit "peckish" during the school day. For future items, we are hoping to offer yogurt, more organic snacks and possibly some homemade items (i.e. homemade brownies, cookies, granola bars, rice crispy treats, etc.).
Theft at Snack Shack
We are sad to report that Snack Shack was robbed on the first day of school last Monday, including $35 in cash and a number of items. Please note that Snack Shack cannot be manned 100% of the day and therefore often works on an "honor system". We will now have a lock box for the money, but if any items or cash are missing in the future, we will no longer to be able to offer Snack Shack.
NGHE "Lunch Bunch"
Be sure your student's name is clearly marked on their lunch bag/box and that they bring their own plastic eating utensils and napkins. There's also a microwave for heating up soup, but please only send items for heating if your child is old enough to handle hot foods. We do not have enough lunch supervision to heat up lunches for younger students.
Lunch Area Clean-Up
We ask that students be mindful to clean their eating area before they go to their next class. This includes throwing away all their trash, wiping any spills on floor or table, and pushing in their chair. We want North Lanier Baptist Church to know NGHE students and staff are responsible and show care and respect towards church property at all times!
Mother's Lounge at NGHE
The Mother's Lounge is located just off the main lobby (in the room with the glass doors). This sanctuary for moms is quiet, has plenty of chairs and tables, Wi-Fi, and freshly brewed coffee and hot water for tea! If you have a heart for hospitality and want to bring some of your homemade baked goods to share with other moms, please do!
Lost & Found
Parents, if at all possible, please mark your student's book bags, binders, notebooks, lunch boxes, back packs and water bottles with their names. This will make it easier to identify lost items with their owners.
Please help us to remind students the importance of keeping their valuables either at home or with them at all times (including cell phones, tablets, wallet/purses, cash, orthodontia devices, and eye glasses).
Valuables Disclaimer
Note that every attempt will be made to lock up any valuable items left behind on campus at the end of each Monday. However, in all cases of both student and staff possessions, North Georgia Homeschool Enrichment LLC and North Lanier Baptist Church cannot be held responsible for lost or stolen items.

MEET THOSE WHO TEACH AT NGHE
Featuring Martial Arts and Yummy Cooking Teacher Wendy Hood and FitLife (CrossFit for Kids) Teacher Mariah Provost
Wendy Hood, Martial Arts and Yummy Cooking Teacher and Owner of My H.E.A.L.T.H. Kick
Wendy's background is in managing and creating leaders in Corporate America. She worked in the fashion industry at her “dream job”, selling and buying fashion clothing and then managing stores for Nordstrom from 1987 – 2005.
In 2005 God called Wendy away from that assignment to focus on her own health and to instill great healthy habits in her family. Five months later God gave Wendy a new dream. It was called My H.E.A.L.T.H. Kick and she incorporated in May 2005.
My H.E.A.L.T.H. Kick stands for Helping, Everyone, Achieve, Life, Through, Healthy Habits! Her new assignment was to help by sharing what she learned to restore her own health. She became a Certified Personal Trainer, a Martial Arts Instructor, and a Health Coach certified through The Institute For Integrative Nutrition.
God has used Wendy to support people through nutrition and exercise and battle illnesses such as Cancer, Diabetes, Obesity, and more. Wendy does a lot of one-on-one training where she helps people create plans that instill new habits, such as cooking real food, following an exercise regime that works for them, and learning how to balance stress and undo what stress is doing to their health.
And for the kids that God has so graciously loaned Wendy for a season or a longer time period- they kick, punch, get fit, and eat together… oh and they learn! YUMMY!
Wendy and her husband Dennis have been married for 25 years and we have 3 kids. Their son Tyler attends UNG and works at Cracker Barrel here in Cumming. Their oldest daughter Tori attends CSU where she is a nursing student and plays soccer. Tori also works at a law firm in Columbus. Lastly, their daughter Taryn attends South High School as a Sophomore. She is in the Ladies Advanced Choir and loves playing her guitar, (thanks to Mr. Alex), and her piano.
To learn more about personal training, nutritional counseling, or the martial arts classes that Wendy offers at her home studio, call Wendy at 678.438.4148 or visit her website at www.myhealthkick.biz.
Mariah Provost, FitLife Teacher and Owner of CrossFit STAND
Mariah's entire career has centered around helping others achieve their goals in and out of the gym. She graduated from Lee University in 2004 with a bachelor's in physical education and a minor in psychology.
Her first job was with a therapeutic wilderness program for troubled children, where instructors led groups of teens in month long camps consisting of counseling, goal setting, fitness development, self esteem improvement, and nutritional development. (This is also where she would be first exposed to CrossFit)
Four years later, Mariah entered the public school system as a physical education teacher. It was then that her passion for CrossFit, nutrition, goal-setting, and personal development blossomed into full-on obsession.
While teaching, she began training as a CrossFit coach and eventually transitioned into CrossFit full-time. If she is not in the gym working with clients, she is either training herself or researching the latest and greatest the scientific community has to offer.
Her passion for researching fitness and nutrition has led to Mariah being part of countless success stories. Her dedication to resolving the mysteries of nutritional intake and its effect on the body has resulted in the overwhelming success of her clients.
With a never ending love for what she does, you will not find a more knowledgeable, flexible, invested, or friendly teacher to partner in you and your child in the journey of health and fitness than Mariah!
Mariah and her husband Sean are proud new first-time parents of a beautiful baby boy (Noah) born in February. Sean and Mariah are Owners/Operators of CrossFit STAND located at 1050 Buford Hwy, Suite 105 in Cumming. You can learn more about CrossFit STAND classes with Mariah as Head Trainer by calling 678.316.0656 or by visiting their website at www.crossfitstand.com.
