Who is Laura Ingalls Wilder?

Laura was born on February 7,1867 on a farm near Pepin, Wisconsin. She had four siblings. She was the second born. Laura never graduated from high school, but she was able to become a teacher. She married Almanzo Wilder on August 25,1885. Laura had one child. Her name was Rose. Laura and Almanzo spent their later years at Rocky Ridge Farm by Mansfield, Missouri. Laura died on February 10,1957.

What did she do?

Laura described things with her words to her blind sister. She told her daughter Rose stories of growing up and pioneer life. Rose thought these stories would entertain children and teach them about pioneer days. She was a very influential author of childrens´ books. She wrote Little House on the Prairie and other books for kids. In 1974, Lauraś books became a well known TV show, Little House on the Prairie.

Lauraś Impact on the World

Laura is famous for writing books for children. She affected society with her writings. Children begged for more. Laura and her husband were famous for their farming skills. She was helpful and kind. Laura was hardworking and she was a good student. She loved to learn. Laura reminded people that things were not important. Love, kindness and helping each other are what matters. I would like to be like Laura. She liked to help people.
