Notice of PTA By-law vote
The Madison PTA by-law committee has conducted its biannual review of the PTA by-laws. Proposed amendments have been discussed at the January and February PTA meetings, and we are very appreciative of those who offered comments and feedback. If you missed either of those meetings and would like to see the proposed amendments, please email Rachel Bailey at president@madisonschoolpta.org. The proposed by-laws will be voted on at the March PTA meeting.
Earn a free pass to Raging Waves

Madison's Battle of the Books earns award
Congratulations to Madison's Battle of the Books team for earning the award for most participants in the program. The Wheaton Public Library gives the Participation Award to the team that has the most battlers--Madison had more than 40! Each school that participates receives a new book for the school's library (see photo).
Thank you Battle of the Books coaches!
More than 40 fourth and fifth graders participated in Madison's Battle of the Books this season. From September through February, adult volunteers met with their groups each week to talk about the books they read. Volunteers also hosted five mock battles during the lunch hour, and they helped the team prepare for the battles at the Wheaton Public Library.
The Battle of the Books program would not exist without the dedication of the volunteers. Please let these coaches know how much you appreciate them: Sue Adkins, Shelly Baker, Jennifer Denson, Monica Fahey, Nancy Giordano, Cecilia Horejs, Jaime Kammerzell, Nicole Klotz, Kelly Masse, Janet Mathis, Evelyn Mosca, Janine Shimp, Margit Spires, Anne Valente. Also, thank you to Becca Hary and McDonald's for providing gift cards at our final mock battle. If you are interested in volunteering for Battle of the Books next school year, please contact Janet Mathis, janetmarkmathis@yahoo.com.

Submit your inspiration nominations
Are you the parent of a child who has been inspired by a District 200 teacher or staff member? With your child, take a minute to tell us about it.
Over a year ago, the PTA Council and the Superintendent's Office developed the Inspiration Nomination program to honor our District 200 staff members and acknowledge all that they do for our students. Forms are available in the Madison office, or you can can download the form here and submit it to Erica Loiacono at erica.loiacono@cusd200.org. You can either email a scanned copy (or photo) to erica.loiacono@cusd200.org, or you can turn it into the PTA President mailbox.
Any Inspiration Nomination received will be shared with the staff member nominated along with recognition by the Superintendent and PTA Council. Then, two times per year, the Council and Superintendent will surprise select staff members who have really gone above and beyond by visiting their classroom and recognizing their work personally.
