2nd Nine Weeks: A New Beginning
Faculty and Staff, as we put the first nine weeks in the record books, I cannot help but reflect upon our many accomplishments. Several students auditioned and will now represent Columbia in the All-City Honor Choir. Our football team dominated John Paul II in their football match-up over fall break. Our attendance rate is at 95.51%. Improvements were made to the large gymnasium floor. We have entered into a partnership with UAB to expose a cohort of ninth grade students to STEM programs. We had some bright spots to brag about in our SchoolNet data as well that will be shared in the coming weeks. As these successes give us fuel and encouragement, we realize that we have opportunities for growth as well.
As we begin our second quarter, let us reaffirm our expectations to our students, take a closer look at ways that we can improve in assisting our students to be more successful, and continue to work closely together as a team . Each start of the quarter signifies a new beginning. A new beginning for us to relish in our strengths and successes while reflecting on those areas which we can improve. I encourage all to reflect on the past quarter. What were your strengths and successes? What areas might need improvement? What were some challenges? Please take this opportunity to take the following surveys. Please be candid because constructive feedback always spurs growth.
The first survey is the First Quarter Reflection Survey. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BH2ZJLZ
The second survey is the SchoolNet Review and Reflection Survey.

These surveys only have ten questions each and will help guide and inform us on ways to grow and improve. Please, take the surveys by the end of the day on Monday. We thank you for your candor and feedback in advance.
We are also very pleased and honored to welcome Mr. Zach South, Math Teacher; Mr. Chris Smith, Social Studies Teacher and Mr. Sammy Hardin, Head Custodian to Team Columbia. Also, as we begin the week, please keep Mrs. Driggers in your prayers as she lost a family member during the break.
Team Columbia, I am excited what the 2nd quarter will bring. Get excited!!!! Be energized!!!! GO EAGLES!!!
