In this week's Tips...
Try Shadow Puppet Edu with your K-2 students and be on the lookout in the next Teed's Tech Tips for Summer Technology PD and instructions on how to leave iPad and Chromebook carts for summer. Learn how to make Book Shelfies with your students to have them easily share with each other what they are reading. Also, K-2, please try Book Creator with your students before the end of the year...and 3-5, look for Book Creator to be accessible on Chromebooks by fall!
Try Shadow Puppet!
K-2, this is such an easy way to make a quick movie out of pictures (hint, hint for the end of the year)! Have your students try it out or I can come show them!
Summer Tech PD
We'll have an "Open House" Technology PD this summer in July. We'll announce the date in the next Teed's Tech Tips! Be on the lookout!
Summer Lock Up
Also in the next Teed's Tech Tips, we'll tell you how we would like your iPads or Chromebooks and their carts left for the summer to make them easier to access by the techs.
Book Shelfies...An Any Time of Year Activity...with Seesaw
Book Shelfies make a quick, fun way for students to share what they're reading with one another. This activity, mentioned by Kristin Ziemke, involves students taking pictures of themselves with a book (a "shelfie") they are currently reading. Then, they write a quick caption about the book--what they like or don't like, a favorite part, why they'd recommend it, etc. Ziemke recommended the Padlet website for this activity, but Seesaw makes the activity even easier! Students can simply take a picture of themselves with their books, then click the green check mark one time. At the bottom of the screen, they'll then see an option for a caption. They click caption, type their response to the book, then click the green check again. That's it! If you have your class settings set to see each others work and comment, students can then see all their classmates books and responses as soon as you approve them. How cool would this be to do every couple weeks or so?! Click the Seesaw Blog link below for an example of how this can be done using the video feature, too, if you'd rather.
We LOVE Book Creator!
K-2 Teachers, if you have not used Book Creator with your students yet this year, please try to do so before the end of the year! (And, 3-5 Teachers...this should be coming to your Chromebooks as a website by fall!) Even just giving them 10 minutes to play on it is awesome because it puts a different spin on their writing. After I teach many classes this app, I often hear them asking their teachers if they can play on it during recess!!!! Above is Mrs. Henninger's class at SG showing me their comic book pages they made with Book Creator! So, when your students want to try something new, have them try the comic books, too! I can help teach your class this app if you'd like, just sign up below!
