Book Fair Update...

We would like to thank everyone who made our Scholastic Book Fair a huge success! With your generous support we earned over 2,800 Scholastic Dollars which we will use to purchase books and other materials for the library. We have already purchased over 100 NEW books for our preschool through 5th grade students. It is such a joy for me to watch their faces when they see all the new books! All of the kids in library class this week got a sneak peak at the books being added to our collection. Below are some pictures from Mrs. Toy's 1st grade class enjoying their time with our new books from Scholastic. Thanks again to all of you for making this happen!

Character Projects in 2nd through 5th Grade

The kids have been working really hard on a project during library and tech time for the past few weeks. Each student chose a picture book to read and picked a character to focus on from their book. We learned about external and internal character traits. Students wrote down a list of their character's different traits and then turned that list into a paragraph or two. They also drew a picture of their character's using colored pencils or markers. We then used a free I-pad app called "Tellagami" to create videos about our book characters. With Tellagami students create a their own customized character of themselves. Then we took a picture of their book characters they drew and added those as the background for our videos. After I taught the students how to use Tellagami they were able to independently create a video with a recording of their voice. Here some examples below of three of our students finished work. We had a lot of fun with this project and the kids did an awesome job!
