The Curriculum Corner: CR-RTI...Time to Reflect

When we reflect on our instructional practices through the lens of RTI, it is important to remember that RTI is not a "program." In fact, I have often heard RTI simply referred to as a verb...it is an ever changing cycle that focuses on research and on the needs of our students. Throughout the Dwayne Williams text, he refers to five steps that are necessary to ensure the success of a CR-RTI model. Take a moment to review the graphic below, and consider where your classroom practices fall on this continuum. Certainly, we have increased our "awareness" over the past couple of years and are having deeper conversations about the culture of our students; however, Williams cautions us to be mindful of Step 2. As he states, we must move beyond the biases of our personal experiences and stay focused on the research that supports these engagement practices. Please share your thoughts on where we fall as a building via email, social media or in the footer of the Buzz...and if you would like to review Dwayne Williams' model click here for my Curriculum Corner summaries!
