Virtual School Program Update
Cambrian School District, August 13, 2020
Dear Cambrian Virtual School Program Families,
Thank you for your patience and commitment to the Cambrian School District as we prepare for the 2020-21 school year. We are eager to equip and support students and families enrolled in the new Virtual School Program offered this school year as a result of our current situation with COVID-19. As your child is enrolled in the Cambrian School District Virtual Program for this school year, I wanted to take the time to provide you with more information about the Virtual School Program and specifically the differences for TK-5th and 6th- 8th grade.
Virtual School Program Learning Continuity Plan
The Distance learning and virtual school program guidelines for students and parents were sent out last week and for your convenience I have included the comprehensive guidelines as follows:
Virtual School Program for Grades TK-5
If your child is in grades TK- 5th, your child will be assigned a Virtual School Program teacher and you will receive email confirmation by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17th. You will also receive a “welcome to the 2020-21 school year” email from your child’s specific teacher on Tuesday, August 18th. That email will explain how your child will login on the first day of school to meet their teacher and classmates. In addition, I am excited to share that this year, Mrs. Debbie Stein will oversee the TK-5 Virtual School Program. You will receive a welcome letter and further information in the near future from Mrs. Stein welcoming you to the Virtual TK-5 Program this school year.
Virtual School Program for Grades 6-8
If your child is enrolled in grades 6th-8th Virtual School Program, your child will be placed in four core classes (English Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies) at their respective middle school (Virtual School Program 2020-21). For instance, for students, whose home school is Price Middle, your child will be assigned to their core class teacher at Price and for students, whose home school is Steindorf, your child will be assigned to their core class teacher at Steindorf. As per the district communication regarding the Virtual School Program option, students participating in the Virtual School Program will be enrolled in the core classes and will not be enrolled in the elective courses. However, all 6th-8th grade Virtual School Programs students will be assigned to “VSP Innovation Block” for additional asynchronous learning opportunities. More details about the VSP Innovation Block will be provided as soon as it is available.
Please expect in the near future to hear directly from Ida Price Middle School Principal, Mrs. Gioco and Steindorf Principal, Ms. McFarland for grades 6th-8th Virtual School Program students.
Virtual School Program Attendance
Live student check-in & attendance will take place daily Monday through Friday through each of your child’s classes. Students who are not present online will be marked absent. If you know your child is out of school for the day please make sure to report the absence through the attendance lines provided below. You should have also received the 2020-21 Parents Rights and Responsibilities Resource that outlines student attendance.

Virtual School Communication and Website
Currently there is information on the Cambrian School District website as to the Virtual School Program for the 2020-21 school year. We are in the midst of creating a dedicated website for our families that will make it much easier to navigate and provide the information in one location. Thank you for your patience as we create this new website.
We are excited to offer our students and families this program that will support student learning during these unique times. We greatly appreciate your continued support as we prepare to launch the 2020-21 academic year helping all learners achieve their individual potential. It is going to be a great year of learning for our Cambrian students and we are glad to be working with you to support each of their needs. We are Cambrian!
