Principal Post
Congratulations to several staff members who applied for and received "Color Your Classroom" grants from the Dupage Credit Union. A total of $1500 was presented to Mrs. Novotny, Ms. Giammarino, Mrs. Dyer and Ms. Doran. Thanks to Donna Brady from DCU, pictured in the photo, for presenting checks to these staff members. The DuJardin PTO matched Ms. Doran's music grant plus an additional $200 for the purchase of ukuleles. Ms. Doran now has $1200 to purchase ukuleles for a 3rd-5th grade music program.
At the October school improvement early release day yesterday D13 staff got together at Erickson to review district culture and climate survey results. Svetlana Sutic from INSIGHTeX will be working with all three D13 schools throughout the year to set goals regarding areas of improvement from the recent survey. Teaching staff then continued to work on standards based grading and reporting.
Red Ribbon Week is upon us, October 22nd-26th, which marks the 33rd anniversary. Red Ribbon Week was started to honor Special Agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. In 1985 Agent Camarena was a DEA agent who lost his life in the war on drugs. Agent Camarena knew the dangers of his job, but he also knew that the future of America was dependent on stopping drug abuse. He gave the ultimate sacrifice for this cause.
DuJardin students will be participating in various activities all next week in celebration of Red Ribbon Week.
