School's Out For Summer!



As this 2020-21 school year finally comes to a close today, I wanted to send a "THANK YOU" to all of our staff, students, parents/families and community for your dedication, patience, flexibility, hard work, heart and awesomeness during this most challenging and difficult year.

I hope you are proud of yourself for hanging in there this year. I hope you are proud of our dedicated and hardworking 1,000+ employees that found a way to make this school year happen against tough odds. I hope you are proud of our amazing and resilient students and their families. I hope you are proud of our community and alumni for all of their support when we need it most.

THANK YOU for being part of Westside Community Schools. We have much to be thankful for and lots to look forward to.

Summer Meals Program Begins June 1

Westside Community Schools is proud to offer free summer meals to students, funded by the US Department of Agriculture! Sites open Tuesday, June 1. This is open to all families, no ID's or financial qualifications required

  • Hillside Elementary, dine in cafeteria service
    • Breakfast, 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM
    • Lunch, 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM
    • Also, 5 day meal kit handout (breakfast and lunch) on Wednesdays
  • Prairie lane Elementary, dine in cafeteria service
    • Breakfast, 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM
    • Lunch, 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM
    • Also, 5 day meal kits handout (breakfast and lunch) on Thursdays
  • Westgate Elementary, dine in cafeteria service
    • Breakfast, 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM
    • Lunch, 12:00 PM to 1 PM (open to the public as prior to this WG summer school kids will be in from 11-12)
  • Westside Middle School: 5 day meal kit handout to the public 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM (WMS will also have summer school students that will be served but the cafeteria will be closed to the public/no cafeteria dining.)

Westside Board of Education Meeting: Monday, June 14

The next Westside Board of Education meeting will be held Monday, June 14 at 5:00 pm at the ABC Administration Building. The meeting will be shared live on Facebook, appearing on the district site once the meeting begins. CLICK HERE.

From Douglas County Health: COVID-19 Vaccinations Now Available For Children Ages 12+

The Douglas County Health Department has announced they are now able to start vaccinating students aged 12 and up. Students can be vaccinated at any of the Douglas County clinics, FQHCs, or pharmacies. They will need a parent or guardian to be present and a consent form to be filled out, which is available on our website. CLICK HERE for the link.

Remembering Dr. Bob Bruckner

Our condolences are with the family and loved ones of Dr. Bob Bruckner, who died May 13. Dr. Bruckner served Westside as a longtime district administrator and elementary principal. CLICK HERE to view Dr. Bruckner's obituary.
