OLVCS Updates
January 27, 2022
Dear Families and Friends of Our Lady of Victory Catholic School,
Our Lady of Victory Catholic School is looking forward to a fun week as we celebrate our Catholic Faith and its significance in every aspect of our lives, especially our education and development. Once again, we invite you to participate in the celebration of a school Mass this Sunday at 9:30am at OLV Church. And please join us at the school for donuts, coffee, and juice following the Mass.
With many things going in the next week, I will keep this note short, but I just want to add one more important thing. Thank you so much for choosing Our Lady of Victory Catholic School. My first year as principal has been a service of both honor and pleasure, and I thank our supportive families, dedicated faculty, amazing students, and of course God for all that has been possible here and all that is to come.
In Christ,
Jim Hoy

Catholic Schools Week begins this Sunday with 9:30am Mass
Since 1974, National Catholic Schools Week has been the annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. It starts the last Sunday in January and runs all week, which in 2023 is January 29 – February 4. The theme for National Catholic Schools Week 2023 is “Catholic Schools: Faith. Excellence. Service.” Schools typically observe the annual celebration week with Masses, open houses and other activities for students, families, parishioners and community members. Through these events, schools focus on the value Catholic education provides to young people and its contributions to our church, our communities and our nation.
We have many fun activities planned for this special week. Below you will find dress down days and themes, and a few of the other fun events we have planned. We will also be collecting snack items, per their request, for the local food bank.

Crusaders Faced Cross-town Rival
This week both of our middle school basketball teams took on Mount Nittany Middle School teams. While the girls team had lost in the previous match-up, they were ready to take on a strong Mount Nittany team. And, this time the girls were victorious! With great teamwork and quick passing during the press break, the OLVCS girls team beat Mount Nittany, 17 to 28. Regrettably, the OLV boys team didn’t have the same luck. Despite many great shots and passes, the boys team lost 30 to 37 in the B game and 22 to 48 in the A game.
Both teams travel to Meadowbrook Christian today in Milton to take on the Lions. Go Crusaders!

Great OLV Crowd At Game Last Night
There was a great crowd of Saint Joseph’s and Our Lady of Victory students, alumni, families, teachers, and fans at the Saint Joseph’s boys game last night. Thank you to all who came out for this great match up with the East Juniata Tigers. The night began with a win by the Saint Joseph’s JV team – 39 SJCA to 35 EJHS. As any fan can attest, the Varsity game was very physical and a defensive showdown. It went down to the last few minutes and could’ve gone either way. But, in the end the Tigers were able to ride the bus home victorious – 37 SJCA to 46 EJHS. The boys team travels to Williamsburg High School tonight for a rematch with the Blue Pirates. #GoWolfPack!
Senior Night Games Coming Soon
Both SJCA basketball teams will be celebrating their seniors at upcoming games. OLVCS alumni, Timothy Peters, Nick Warner, Jayden Capparelle, and Ben Eby, along with Nittany Christian grad, Spencer Gigante, will be honored at the Varsity boys game on Wednesday, February 1st. OLVCS alumni, Kita Chappell and Ava Calistri along with Saint John's grad, Brandi Carmack will be honored at the Varsity girls game on Thursday, February 9th.
