The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) -- Jan. 21-23
The award-winning Lewisville High School Theatre Department will present three performances of the interactive comedy The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged) on Jan. 21-23 at LHS Stuver Auditorium, 1098 W. Main Street.
Performances will start at 7 p.m. each evening. Tickets are $10 general admission, $7 for students, and can be purchased at the door prior to each performance. Seating is limited. Due to some mature humor, this show is not recommended for pre-teen audiences.
The play was written by Adam Long, Daniel Singer, and Jess Winfield and parodies the many plays of William Shakespeare, with all of them being performed (in comically shortened form) by a small cast of actors. The fourth wall is nonexistent during the performance, with the actors speaking directly to the audience during much of the play, and some scenes involve audience participation. To capture the informal nature of the play, all three performances will be presented with the audience seated on the Stuver Auditorium stage in a style similar to a classic black box theater.
LHS Theatre sets 2015-16 season
Upcoming shows for LHS Theatre during the 2015-16 season include The Land of the Dragon (March 3), and Almost, Maine (April 28-30). Starstruck Coffeehouse, a compilation of performances by LHS students, will be presented on Jan. 12 and May 6. Lewisville’s entry in the 2016 One-Act Play competition will be American classic To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee; competition season starts March 21.
