Knightly Update March 21, 2021
Edition Vol 9 Issue 31
Welcome to the final quarter of the school year. As a reminder, school resumes on Tuesday. I look forward to hearing about the spring break adventures of our students and hope they had an enjoyable break.
I am very excited to announce that we have another state champion in our midst. Senior Kellen Gibson was crowned the state champion for the 220 lbs. weight class in last week's AIA State Wrestling Tournament. Congratulations Kellen on an outstanding high school wrestling career. Kellen plans to attend Johns Hopkins in the fall continuing his athletic career at the next level. Awesome season, Kellen!
The good news keeps coming as we learned our students earned a total of 30 awards at this year's Chandler Innovation Fair, including two Best of Fair Awards. Congratulations to Shanti LeBonheur and Michelle Sheikh on winning Best of Fair! Shanti won Best of Fair in the Physical Sciences category while Michelle won Best of Fair in the Biological Sciences category. Congratulations to Shanti and Michelle on a job very well done. A list of all of this year's Chandler Innovation Fair winners is included in the Knights in the Spotlight section. Hat's off to all of this year's winners - their persistence, hard work and commitment to their research certainly paid off. Nice work, Knights!
Speaking of persistence and hard work, our girls soccer team had an impressive post-season tournament run. Seeded 15th, the girls played their way to the semi-final match beating the number 2 and number 7 seeded teams along the way. The girls lost in the semi-final to a talented Scottsdale Christian squad, but played toe-to-toe losing 2-1. Regardless, it was an incredible post season, fun to watch, and I am very proud of the girls and coaches for the work they put forth. Great job ladies.
Please note that state AzM2 testing (formerly AzMerit) for sophomores will take place April 5th-7th. Due to our sophomores needing to take this assessment, students in 9th, 11th and 12th grade will have an 11:35 start time on these days. Lunch will NOT be provided to students in 9th, 11th and 12th grade, so please ensure students eat prior to coming to school. Like with last quarter's late start, transportation will be provided for our sophomore students at the regular start of the day and then again for our freshmen, juniors, and seniors. The schedule that will be followed April 5th-7th is listed below. Please contact the administrative office if you have any questions.
I hope everyone enjoyed the break and is ready to take on the last quarter of what has been a very unique year. As always, if you have any questions, please contact me. Have a nice week.
Rob Bickes
Principal
