Back to School Edition 2022
Meet the Teacher!
The teachers and staff at Justin Elementary have been attending trainings, decorating classrooms, and planning lessons. We are very excited to welcome you and your children back to school!
NISD is actively reviewing enrollment numbers on every campus and teacher shifts might be necessary. **All families will be notified of their child's teacher on Monday morning.
"Meet the Teacher" is Monday, August 15 from 4:30 - 6:30 pm.
Since this event is after school hours, we will have 3 exterior doors open around the building to help you with parking. (Front door, Kinder wing (south), and back Cafeteria door (west).
Bring all of your child's school supplies on Monday night. Teachers ask that you only write student's name on personal items such as ear phones and supply box.
If your child takes medication at school, please bring those medications to Nurse Jenn Sansom in the original labeled bottles/box.
We look forward to partnering with you this year. TOGETHER we are better!

The First Day of School is Wednesday, August 17th.
Walk to Class the 1st Day of SchoolDoors open at 7:20 am. Families may enter through the front entrance and walk students to class the first day of school. We will have extra supervision at the front entrance and in the hallways on this special day. Families may walk their child to class on Day 2 and Day 3 by signing in with a current driver's license through Raptor at the front entrance only. Bus transportation and car lines will be running a regular schedule if that works best for your family. We will have extra JES staff in the hallways if kiddos forget their teacher's name or need help finding the classroom. | Apply for the Free and Reduced Meal ProgramApplications are now available for NISD's Meal Sense, the district's free and reduced-cost meal program. Free and reduced-price school meals are provided to students whose families meet certain income requirements, also considering the total amount of people in the home. If there is a chance your family could qualify, please click the link below. Electronic applications are available on the Food Service website, and paper applications can be picked up at the food service office or at any Northwest ISD school. | Lunch VisitorsNISD Elementary Schools will allow lunch visitors after Labor Day weekend. Thanks for giving students and teachers a few weeks to learn the lunch room procedures. We will send more information soon on how to sign up to come eat lunch at JES! |

Arrival and Dismissal Plan Our plan is very similar to last school year. Car riders can enter the building around the back or the south door, regardless of their grade level. Review the arrival and dismissal procedures so that everyone is safe and the line keeps moving. https://www.smore.com/juax6 | We Need You - Get Involved! Work at Justin Elementary! Family members make wonderful Guest Educators (substitutes). Find out more about it HERE. Do you have a few hours to each week to volunteer? We need help shelving books in the library, "word work" with students, or an extra set of hands in the Art room. Opportunities will be advertised soon! Finally, we believe that joining the PTA shows support for your child's school and gives you a voice in how this organization supports Justin Elementary. It's only $7 so please join! | School Attendance is Important We know that kids need to stay home when they have a contagious illness. Missing a full day of lessons is very hard to "make up". Looking through the assessment data at JES, we can see a direct tie between lower achievement for many students that missed 5 or more days of school. Thank you for using the NISD School Calendar when planning family trips. A parent - staff committee purposefully built the school calendar with several large chunks of time off AND added a 3-day weekend almost every month. Take advantage of these days to help your child be at school! |
