NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Spring Time
Dear Parents,
As the weather appears to be warming and knowing that Spring is just around the corner it is a good time to remind everyone of our continued high expectations for behavior and academic work. Our students have done a fantastic job so far this year and we want to keep this positive momentum going as we head into the final months of the school year. Please spend a few moments with your child this weekend to congratulate them on the great job they have done so far and to remind them of a few of our expectations:
Toys, including Pokemon cards and home-made slime, should be left at home. They can become a distraction and can be hard to keep track of during our very busy learning schedule.
Tank-tops, sleeveless, and crop top shirts should not be worn. All tops should have sleeves (short or long) and cover students’ midriff.
Appropriate shoes should be worn - rubber soled, lace-up or Velcro sneakers are preferred and are the safest shoes on our hard, polished floors. Flip-flops nor high heeled shoes should be worn.
Shorts should be finger-tip length or longer.
This is also a good time to be reminded that arriving to school on time is crucial to beginning the day in the right way. Our day begins at 8:10 AM so students should arrive no later than 8:05 AM in order to get to their classroom on time.
We appreciate you spending time with your child to discuss how proud we are of their performance and behavior thus far and for reminding them of the high expectations we have as the Fairfield Falcon Family.
We hope you have a great weekend!
Mr. Knapp and Mrs. Cook

SPRING FUNDRAISER
Amazing Glaze
This week we kicked-off our Amazing Glazed fundraiser. The profits from this fundraiser will help with the purchase of a 3D printer. In order to reach our goal, we are hoping each family will sell 10-12 items. We are selling gift certificates good for one dozen donuts at Amazing Glazed. Amazing Glazed is located right near us, in the Kempsriver Crossing Shopping Center. They also have a location in Great Bridge. Please note that these gift certificates do not expire, so you can use them at any time. They also make great gifts. In addition, we are also taking orders for their Gourmet Cookie dough. The cookie dough can help make Spring treats a breeze!
There are many things we think you will like about this program:
Students that sell any FIVE ITEMS wins an invitation to THE AMAZING GLAZED...ALL YOU CAN EAT DONUT PARTY!
There is no door-to-door selling. Students are asked to sell to friends and family. Parents can help and get orders from friend and co-works.
Sell 10 items-receive a free tub of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
Sell 20 items-receive a Regal Cinema movie ticket
Sell 30 items-receive a ticket to bring a friend
Sell 40 items-receive 25.00 to take care of your soda and popcorn
All money and orders are due Friday, March 10th. Please make all checks payable to Amazing Glazed.
This project is important to our students and faculty. Thank you for your help and cooperation in making this fundraiser a success!

BREAKFAST IN THE CLASSROOM
Mornings can be really crazy! The alarm doesn’t go off, the kids don’t want to get up, there’s no time to eat breakfast before the bus comes or they’re just not ready to eat. If this sounds like your house, we have good news for you.
This year breakfast can be enjoyed in the classrooms at Fairfield Elementary! Take advantage of this option to ensure your child eats a nutritious breakfast. Recent studies show a link between nutrition and learning. A nutritious breakfast helps students be more alert so they can actively participate in class. Breakfast has vitamins and nutrients for a strong and healthy body.
Breakfast at school is affordable, too. A full breakfast costs less than convenience store items. If you qualify for free or reduced price meals, you also qualify for the breakfast program, with no additional paperwork. If you must pay, you’ll find a full price breakfast for $1.40, a reduced price breakfast for $0.30 and a free breakfast for no charge.
So take advantage of this opportunity to start the day on the right foot. Your child will find “Breakfast at School” provides not only a nutritious meal, but also a relaxed atmosphere and students are more settled when it’s time to begin the lessons for the day.
If you do not want your child to receive a breakfast, please instruct them not to select a breakfast in the mornings and/or notify their teacher. Students selecting a breakfast without any money will be charged for that breakfast. Student charge letters will be sent home each week.
