Notables From Nixon!
Each Day We Begin With Being Mindful
The feedback from children has been really wonderful. We try different strategies to practice our mindfulness. This week, we tried to "breathe like a bee" and have 4-count breath while making a gentle hum when exhaling. The variations, of course, are optional and all can participate in a manor that they see fit and calm. Some children have preferred sitting and listening, while other enjoy putting their hand on their tummy to feel the rise and fall of their breath.

A Note From Nurse Chabot
Important Reminder about the Flu Vaccine Requirement
The Department of Public Health has added a new influenza vaccine requirement for grade K-12. This requirement was put in place to reduce influenza-related morbidity and to reduce the overall impact of respiratory illness in a population still facing the COVID-19 pandemic. Students will be expected to have received an influenza vaccine by December 31, 2020 unless they have a medical or religious exemption. This is a requirement for all students regardless of whether the district is providing instruction in-person or using a hybrid or remote learning model.
If you have not yet done so, please provide the documentation of immunization, either email or paper copy, to Anne Chabot in the Nixon Health Office at anne_chabot@sudbury.k12.ma.us
