Spam Text Messages: Don't Engage
Dear Sherwood Families,
As many of you know, someone was posing as me sending text messages as the principal of Sherwood Elementary, in order to get receivers of the text message to purchase $700 worth of Apple gift cards. I apologize if you were on the other end of this scam. Unfortunately, it is a reality of the world we live in now. Please read the message below from SBISD so that you are informed about this type of scam and what to do if you receive a message:
- SMS spoofing, also known as SMS phishing, uses a wireless device to send text messages (SMS) or social media messages that falsely appear to come from a different sender. It allows an individual to impersonate another person and contact other people on their contact lists without their knowledge. Often requests are made to buy and send pictures of gift cards.
- Spring Branch ISD will never contact you vial text, email or phone call requesting gift cards, money or bank account information. If you receive any communication impersonating a Spring Branch staff member, please contact the SBISD Police Department.
Ms. Salas, SWE Principal

April Character Trait: Perseverance
Is your child struggling to do something they really want to do? This month we’re talking about the trait of perseverance. The dictionary defines it as: “Persistence in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success.” The definition we are using in class is: Perseverance: the ability to work through situations even when there are obstacles or challenges in the way. Encourage your child to keep going and try again. Tell them they haven't made their goal...YET. They will one day!
SWE Shines because of the SHS Big Day!
Thank you to our Stratford HS student volunteers for making SWE beautiful. The flowers, mulch, pathways and library tables look great! We appreciate you serving your community.
Dress Code-Sherwood is a Uniform School
Please be sure this 4th nine weeks that your child is following our SWE dress code. Sherwood is a uniform school, which means students must wear a solid colored collared shirt with navy or khaki bottoms. Students may wear a SWE shirt and jeans any day of the week. Please do not send students in ripped jeans, leggings or sweat pants. Students not following dress code will be sent to the nurse and given proper attire. Thank you for reinforcing that following the dress code is the right thing to do! :)
