Week of January 23
Notes from the Principal's Desk
Dear Parents and Families,
Can you believe we are already half way through the school year? Last week was the end of Quarter 2, concluding the first semester. Teachers are working on finalizing grades and preparing report cards that will come home on Monday, January 30. Students with failing grades in yearlong classes will receive academic contracts. These contracts will come home with report cards. All work from the academic contracts is due by Friday, February 10.
Please monitor your child's progress using the PowerSchool Portal and communicate with teachers to ensure all work is completed and turned in. Thank you for your continued support!

Author Visit
Author/illustrator/graphic novelist Nathan Hale will be visiting Noble on Mon., Feb. 13! Hale is the #1 New York Times bestselling author and illustrator of Nathan Hale's Hazardous Tales. This series is based on important events in American history, and it's very popular with our students. He also illustrated the graphic novel Rapunzel's Revenge, which was an Al's Book Club for Kids selection, an ALA-ALSC Notable Children's Book, and a YALSA Great Graphic Novel for Teens. He lives in Provo, Utah, and will be with our students all day! He'll even be leading some comics/drawing/graphic novel workshops in the library throughout the day for aspiring artists and authors! Can't wait!
*A shout out goes to the Landfall Foundation for providing the grant to bring Mr. Hale to our school.
*And shout out to Mrs. Gretchen Nash, Media Coordinator for being awarded the Landfall Foundation grant and organizing this amazing opportunity for students!
Eagles Serve
In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Day, The SAVE Promise Club members participated in "A Day On, Not a Day Off." They volunteered at Blair Elementary School and had a wonderful time reading to the students and assisting the teachers with daily classroom activities.

Trombone and Bassoon
Congratulations to the following students who auditioned this past Saturday and earned a spot in one of the All-District Bands:
Case Phillips, 1st chair Symphonic Band on bassoon. Case is eligible to audition for All State Band in March.
LJ Green, 7th chair Symphonic Band on trombone.
Noah Pearson, 4th chair Concert Band on alto saxophone.
The audition consisted of playing 3 major scales and the chromatic scale from memory, performing a prepared solo, and sight reading a short piece of music after only 30 seconds of study. Students from over 30 counties in the eastern part of the state came out to audition for a limited number of spots in two bands.
These students will travel to Greenville the first weekend in February to participate in the clinic and concert with the other students who made the bands.
I am so proud of these students and their hard work!
Thank you for your support of these young musicians!

Round 2 of Aimsweb - This week is 8th grade
Please send your child to school with headphones that plug in to the laptops.
This week 8th grade Noble students will be completing the Middle of Year Universal Screener for AimsWeb. This screener assesses students in reading and math to help teachers and administrators determine which students may need extra support to reach their potential. It is vital that all students give their best effort on these assessments.
