Dear Prospective Montessori Parents,

We are honored that you chose Prestonwood Montessori at ED Walker as your child's learning experience. Whether you have received an acceptance letter or are on the waitlist, we hope that we are able to answer any questions you may have about our program, campus, and community.

Montessori education helps your child develop independence, responsibility, a sense of empathy and social justice, and a lifelong love of learning. Our school fosters a positive and encouraging learning environment designed to meet the needs of the whole child. Students are supported in becoming active seekers of knowledge and responsible for their own motivation to work on their own.

Students on our campus are exposed hands on and diverse learning experiences everyday inside and outside of the classroom. Beautifully designed Montessori materials invite students to engage in learning with all of their senses.

In addition to their class, students experience orchestra, dance, yoga, foreign language studies, the visual arts, gardening, robotics, and coding with specialized instructors during the school day.

We want all students to feel and be successful in their Montessori classroom. We look forward to meeting you, working with your family and welcoming you to our campus community that best serves all of our children.

Big picture

Dual Language in Montessori

The Dual Language program gives your child an opportunity to learn how to speak, write, read, listen, and think in both Spanish and English. Gaining this skill set prepares students for greater career and professional options, as well as gives them a competitive edge in the global marketplace.

In the Dual Language classroom, instruction is provided in Spanish and English. Students also learn and grow by interacting with their peers whose first language is Spanish and/or English.

For accepted students, there will be an additional application and lottery process for a seat in the Dual Language program. Keep an eye out for more information on how to apply to our Montessori Dual Language programs in the near future.

Walker with a strong vision, a proven track record of increasing student achievement, and a commitment to improving educational outcomes for all students. She gives and seeks feedback, sets ambitious goals with high expectations, and believes in collaborative decision-making with her teams.

Ms. Toole has been in Dallas ISD for 11 years and believes this public district is doing transformational work for children. She started her career as a special education International Baccalaureate teacher and has served as a math and science instructional coach, Assistant Principal and District Coordinator before becoming a Principal in 2020. Ms. Toole is grateful for each experience that has inspired her leadership mantra: Live and lead with joy, extend trust to staff, students, and community, create sustainable change by building capacity in others, and advocate for our children by choosing courage over comfort every minute of every day.

After Dealey, she became an Assistant Principal at Rosemont Schools, a PK-8th Dual-Language campus, where she has led and served the Rosemont community for six years. She knows all genuine learning comes through experiences and is grateful for the learning and relationships built over the years.

Cristina believes that every child is capable of showing growth and we should equip students with the tools to make them successful in and out of the classroom. She is also very passionate about peace education and the social-emotional well-being of everyone.
