Language Arts/Social Studies Hands-on Learning Exhibition

ELA/SS Hands-on learning exhibition is Thursday, March 20th from 6:00pm-7:30pm. Please plan on attending. It will be a lot of fun for everyone.

Math

Regular Math: We will be working on decomposing shapes to find area using formulas for rectangles and triangles. Please have your student view the videos on my webpage for Geometry.

Advanced Math - We will be working on decomposing shapes to find area using formulas for rectangles and triangles. Toward the end of the week we will begin our investigation with nets and surface area.

Language Arts

This week in ELA, all classes will work on their reading and writing contracts. We have computer time scheduled for Monday and Tuesday in case students need it. We will also continue our study of folklore. Additionally, first and third period classes will engage in an intensive study of English conventions, while 2nd and 6th periods will begin an in-depth investigation into authors' styles and vocabulary for the purpose of enhancing their own writing.

Science

We have finished the climate/weather unit. The summative assessments will be on the following days:

Performance Task = Monday February 24th

Unit Test = Tuesday February 25th

We will begin the universe unit this week with a balloon activity on how galaxies are moving and some activities on gravity.

Social Studies

We have started our European Geography Unit. Students should be studying their vocabulary and maps every night. Students have been introduced to several websites that can help them learn the material. They are welcome to use these to study.


Step 1 and 2 on Create a Country are due this Friday.
