Scott's Corner
This month in the corner we will go over a few things that have been common issues in the first couple of weeks during Milestone Diagnostic testing.
First, please check all rosters in FultonConnect prior to testing to ensure all students are on your class list and accounted for. Also, if a student attempts to log in unsuccessfully three consecutive times, the system will disable that student’s account. Please ensure that the student is using the correct student ID number for their username and their birthday MMDDYYYY as their password. You can look up this information on the student profile page under student tracking to validate these items. If a student’s account has been disabled, you can reactivate it by placing your mouse over the student roster in student tracking by right clicking. This will bring up a new box with several options. You can select the option that says Active Students and a new window will appear with all of your students. You can change any account that has been disabled to Active status and then save. Your students should now be able to log in!
The next tip is to make sure you or the teachers in your building are entering all constructed response point totals for a whole class at one time. It is recommended to record the point totals in an excel file or a separate sheet of paper and then transfer those scores over to student tracking for the whole class. Once completed, click save. If any of your student’s scores in student tracking still have an asterisk, which indicates that the full score has not been submitted; you will need to make sure that the student submitted the test in their account, or that the constructed response points have been entered and saved accordingly. When a student is trying to submit a test through their account, they need to make sure that they have highlighted the last question in the assessment before trying to submit. Otherwise, the green submit button in the bottom right of the screen will be grayed out. It is fine for students to skip questions and return to them later, however; once they have completed all questions, they will need to return to the final question of the assessment to click submit.
Finally, please work with your data clerk at your school to create timelines for releasing tests after all schedule changes have occurred in your building. If a schedule change for a student is necessary after an assessment has been released, make sure to delete any assessments that have yet to be administered before the student’s schedule is changed. This will prevent problems with re-releasing assessments and issues in student tracking.
Next month we will begin ramping up for the SLO POST Assessments. As always if you need support, guidance, or just have a question, please reach out to me. Have a great spring break! ~Scott
