This weeks spotlight - Matua Jeff Dunn
Kia ora Whanau
I am Matua Jeff Dunn. My role at Kawerau Pūtauaki is as one of the Deputy Principals. Some of my responsibilities are the junior area of the school, sport and EOTC.
My other role is as one of the Across School teachers for the Pūtauaki ki Rangitaiki Kāhui Ako. For this role, I work in a number of different schools across the region building local curriculum and digital technologies.
I have been at this school for two terms now and loving my time here. I moved here from Ōpōtiki where I was a classroom teacher for 10 years.
A bit about me; I am married to Rose who works as an accountant and I have 4 children. Ali (13), Matthew (11), Holly (4) and Tessa (2). We live on a small lifestyle block where we can stretch out and pretend to be farmers. We have recently adopted two calves, Nutella and Butch Cassidy. We are soon to be adopting some chickens... when I finish building Cluckingham Palace for their home.
In my “spare time” I like to do a bit of hunting, fishing, camping in Te Kaha and taking the boat to the lake.
I am looking forward to getting to know all the children more this year and creating some great memories from their time at Kawerau Pūtauaki.

We have had a great response to the Tough Guy Tough Gal Challenge from our Year 5 and 6 students! We were able to extend the number of participants to 30.
