Sheiko's 3rd Grade
Cloud Learning Newsletter- Week of 05/04/20
Our goal is to provide some updates and helpful tips.
A Few Adjustments
This week you will notice the daily assignments have been scaled back. We received feedback that it was too much for the students to complete. The writing will now be a prompt and will be a part of the daily attendance. There will be daily reading and math to complete. Social Studies will have one lesson for the week.
Read Aloud & S.S.
This week we will explore legends related to our Social Studies during each teacher's read aloud.
Virtual Field Day May 8th, 2020
Virtual Field Day is May 8th, 2020. Have your child/children complete any of the games and send pictures to chenise.miller@wbsd.org. Also, use #SheikoFieldDay2020 on any social media outlet if you post pictures. The games can be chosen from any grade level and can be completed once a day instead of all in one day, you choose! Have fun!
Note- The students will be able to access the field day information from the link that will be provided in the daily slide presentation. Check your child's teacher's slides for more information.
Friday Enrichment Day
If you would like an opportunity for your child to get in some extra academic practice, there will be a Google slide with enrichment activities made available to them on Fridays. This is optional but highly suggested. Also, if there are assignments or a day's work that was missed during the week you could use Friday as a make-up day.
Capstone
Capstone is an online resource for ebooks. Please help your child navigate this new site.
1. Go to https://www.mycapstonelibrary.com/login/
2. Click log-in with Capstone Interactive (The username and password automatically populate.)

All Zoom schedules are pictures for reference. The actual schedule with links will be provided by the teacher.
Daily Expectations
The 3rd grade team would like to remind everyone that when possible it is a good idea to make sure to continue to practice math and reading.
- At least 30 minutes of reading a day.
- Math practice on Xtramath, Freckle, Prodigy, and/or Khan Academy Mappers.
- Writing- we highly recommend a journal that the children can write in daily or weekly.
Epic! for Reading
Epic! is the site we will be using for reading. Please make sure you have accepted your child's teacher's invitation to create an account for use at home. It is 100% free and they no longer require a credit card for the trial.
