Dear King Families
Dear King Families,
Spring is in the air as we have been teased with some welcomed warmer temperatures! I hope you were able to enjoy some outdoor time these past few days. Unfortunately, one of the byproducts of warmer weather and melting snow is mud. We recommend that you send your child in with appropriate footwear for potential muddy conditions at recess time. Students will be anxious to get outside each day to enjoy these warmer temperatures and we want them to come back in to school with dry feet!
King had a great deal to celebrate this past week. Highlights included our Winter Music Concert hosted by our own Sarah Silva. The gym was filled with sounds of singing, ukuleles, recorders, boomwhackers, and bucket drumming! Our 5th graders enthusiastically auditioned for the upcoming spring 5th grade Variety Show. Be sure to keep an eye out for forthcoming information about that special evening. We capped off the week with the Annual 2nd Grade Cultural Mosaic Dinner. The photos below don't do the event justice. The turnout was incredible, the country displays were amazing, and the food...delicious. I enjoyed my tour of the world!
Finally, just a reminder that in addition to no school today due to Professional Development, there is an Early Release on Thursday, March 5th.
Please feel free to reach out with any suggestions you would like to see included in future King Connections updates.
Best,
Allison

This year, King Elementary School will be administering the Computer-Based MCAS 2.0 Assessment to all students in grades 3, 4, and 5. The goal of the MCAS assessment is to measure student growth and progress towards English and Math academic learning standards. Fifth grade students will also participate in the MCAS Science, Technology/Engineering assessment this year which will also be available in a computer-based version.
The assessments will be administered to students from April 7th to May 19th. A specific MCAS schedule will be forthcoming.
Students have been working very hard at school to prepare for MCAS. We would like to continue to work together to ensure your child’s success. Below are just a few ways that you can prepare your child.
Attitude/Effort- Please talk with your child and discuss the importance of trying your best. All we ask of the students is to try and give us their best effort. We need the students willing to try. It is important that we have a good attitude toward school.
Attendance - We need students to be at school on time and ready to learn. The final bell rings promptly at 9:05 for our day to begin. We are working hard in the classrooms! We understand that students will become sick, and we only want your child to be at school well and healthy. So please make sure that your child enjoys a healthy breakfast, is here on time, and stays all day.

5th Grade Planning Committee; 5th GRADE PARENTS/GUARDIANS PLEASE READ BELOW
Variety Show Auditions were fabulous!!! We were so impressed and excited for the 5th grade students and what their acts are going to be.... stay tuned. We still have room for a few more acts if any other children are interested. They can either let their teacher know or email Theresa.bibbo1@gmail.com. Variety show date is Friday April 3rd Fuller Middle School. Mark your calendars. Our entire school community is welcome to come watch.
We are in need of volunteers; the Steering committee is 10 people and we are spread thin for creating great memories for ALL our children in the 5th grade. Please help.
If you have not sent in a baby picture of your child, please do so as soon as possible or we will not have it in enough time for King Elementary yearbook deadline.
** Updates coming soon for Clap Out Day and Moving on Ceremony.
