APPR "Town Hall" from NY State Education Department on Tuesday September 15!

This is a town hall style event with Alex Trikalinos, Executive Director of the Office Educator Quality and Professional Development at NYSED.


This conversational opportunity is to discuss and brainstorm local implementation of any updates or revisions to APPR plans that may be needed due to COVID-19 plans and revised regulations that were approved this past spring by the Board of Regents.

Free Virtual Offering from National Association of Media and Technology Centers

Join Beth Kabes and Jeff Rothenberger on Tuesday September 15, 2020 at 3 PM EST as they discuss best practices, strategies and lead a discussion on how schools are coping with keeping students safe.


With teachers now conducting face to face, streaming live, and teaching virtually at the same time, they are faced with enormous challenges. Learn from Beth and Jeff's experience on how we can assist our schools with this enormous task.

September Office Hours for the Regional Professional Learning Team

Remember when we could walk down the hall and chat with a coworker about whatever was challenging us? Social distancing may have altered some of our routines, but office hours are intended to help give teachers a place to still make that meaningful connection.


We do not have all the answers but we would love the opportunity to help you think through a problem or brainstorm possible solutions for whatever classroom challenges might be on your mind. We know the beginning of this school year is exciting, stressful and more than a little exhausting. This year especially, can be a lot to process.


Please join us on Wednesday or Friday to talk about your concerns. All questions are welcome but I will be bringing resources to help guide our thinking and discussion around the ways we can take care of ourselves so that we can continue to care for the students we all serve.

TST BOCES Regional School Success department facilitates the Regional Collaboration System. The system is comprised of multiple councils and content based networks of regional educators. To find more about the Regional Collaboration Networks click here.


  • A system of professional "job-alike" networks that has guiding vision, purpose, goals, regular facilitation and meeting structures, along with archival record; in order to build the capacity of the participants and contribute to regional continuous improvement goals.
  • Leadership for each aspect of the system is provided jointly by TST BOCES staff and district staff.
  • Professional Learning (PL) is coordinated by the shared leadership of each council/network and includes relevant, skilled providers and is a core component of each network/council
  • Modalities for learning and collaborating are flexible and selected by the participants of each
  • Financial support is shared jointly across the region via the Regional School Success Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment Co-Sers

The Library of Things is Open and Ready to Lend!

The TST BOCES Library of Things is officially back open for lending! Thanks to our year 2 Teknologia grant funds, we have purchased some exciting new tech tools to help engage students in STEAM related learning activities. Some of our newest acquisitions include:


  • Tello drones
  • Osmo pocket cameras
  • Ricoh Theta 360 cameras
  • The latest Cricut Maker machines
  • Studio lighting kits
  • Snowball and Lavalier microphones
  • Hummingbird Bit classroom bundles
  • Robotics kits (Lego WeDo, Lego Coding Express, Lego STEAM Park)
  • 3D printers and much more.
  • In addition to hardware, we have software licenses for WeVideo, Thinglink and Soundtrap too!

The Staff and Curriculum Development Network is proud to provide educators with a two-day Virtual Conference, on September 22nd & 23rd from 8 AM til 5 PM, focused on Mathematics and Science integration.


This is a FREE event sponsored by SCDN with presenters from our Math and Science Statewide Framework groups. After the success of the May conference, the statewide group decided to offer it again. It will be another high-quality experience with training from math leaders around the state.


ALL NY math and science educators are invited to attend as few or as many sessions as they would like. Register through the website. Please note: Register ASAP as many of the offerings closed out in May very quickly.

We believe teachers want Professional Development that they have a choice in and is relevant to this year's classroom. We are bringing the biggest math education leaders to help us navigate making learning as effective online as it is in person. Not all of our students have equal access, and we want to help ALL our students have an opportunity to develop their growth mindset.We have over 100 unique sessions, workshops and other learning opportunities. I hope you can join us, registration will be open and we anticipate many to fill quickly. Members will have a chance to register first, so make sure your membership is active. Last month we made the decision to switch to a virtual conference. Our planning team is putting together a great conference to meet the new needs of teachers and students.


Sessions will run all day on November 3rd and 7th, and will be scheduled for after school hours on November 4th, 5th, and 6th.

The Johnson Museum of Art's Virtual Opportunities!

The Johnson Museum of Art is offering a variety of virtual programs for Fall 2020. These offerings are suitable for districts, homeschooling, and learning pods! The classes will focus on deep looking, critical analysis, student interaction, and guided hand-on activities.
