Social Worker's Quote of the Week
On Monday, Feb. 3rd, the Mora Elementary Knowledge Bowl team made up of 5th and 6th graders, went to compete in their first meet at Rush City. At the competition, the Mora teams ended up winning 1st, 2nd, and 8th place in the competition. Great job to these students!
Testing Our Senses
Roz, the teacher for the blind/visually impaired, came to Mrs. Joy's class to teach them a little bit about visual impairments/blindness. She brought in many resources and activities to help students understand what it would be like to be blind and some tools someone who is blind could use. The second graders got to read books in Braille, play games with Braille, textures, and sounds, use a Braille machine, and test their sense of touch and smell.
Learning Through Play
Mrs. Verdon's class had a great time playing all day long for Global School Play Day. This is an annual event with participants from all over the world. Over half a million children participated this year! It is held to bring awareness to the developmentally appropriate practice of children learning through play.
