MBS MEMO

Updates
Please read the parts in this Memo that contain important updates about bus transportation and meal distribution.
We are preparing to have students back on campus April 19th. We will be adhering to California Department of Public Health guidelines. Attached below please find a document that explains how student drop off and pick up will occur for this year.
We are keeping our classes in stable groups--meaning that classes will not be interacting in order to reduce the possibility of transmission to others. In the 5-6 and 7-8, students will remain in one classroom versus switching classrooms. Outdoor structured snack/playtime will be with individual classes. This is certainly different than we are used to, but if we can hang in there and get this virus under control, we have a shot at having a more normal school experience next Fall!
We will still be offering remote learning for families that are not yet comfortable with in-person instruction. There will be simultaneous instruction for in person and remote learners. If you are choosing remote learning, please understand that the first two weeks will be just like the first two weeks at the beginning of a school year, and that a lot of time will be spent on getting used to being on campus and getting to know one-another. There won't be a lot of academics initially.
For now parents may only come on campus for turning in paperwork, returning computers or escorting our youngest to class.
This is a good time to start establishing some habits you will need when school resumes. We will not be checking temperatures as students enter school, so we are depending on your help to keep our students and staff safe.
Please check your child every morning for fever, chills, cough, difficulty breathing, fatigue, body ache, headache, loss of smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea/vomiting or diarrhea.
Also, please have your child practice putting on and taking off a mask, and wearing it for a while so they get used to it. Consider putting a plastic baggy in their backpack for dirty masks and packing an extra every day, along with a water bottle. Students will need to learn to talk a little louder to be heard with a cloth mask on.
I hear from the staff of schools that have gone back on campus that despite all the work, and all the changes, it is wonderful to have students and staff on campus and it is possible to do so safely!
Sincerely,
Nancy Sirski

School "Open House" -- Come on up!
We have created this schedule so that we are able to assure that we maintain social distancing. We ask that if there is a family in the classroom, you wait outside the classroom until the family has left.
All parents and students need to be wearing masks at all times while on campus. If you or your child is exhibiting any signs of illness, please stay home. We ask that you not congregate on campus or in the parking lot. Families with children in multiple grades may select one grade level slot, and visit each child's classroom.
