General PTA Meeting
LOST AND FOUND
AOur Lost and Found Cabinet is overflowing!
Parents - please stop by and check or have your child check for items that may belong to them. There are a lot of winter coats, sweaters, and sweatshirts.
We request that you place your child's name on items so we can return them if found rather than placing in the cabinet.
Items will be placed on display in the alcove near cafeteria for easy viewing. We will also try to add a few photos to the PTA Facebook page, but items will be in groups rather than individual photos as there are too many to photograph. ALL UNCLAIMED ITEMS WILL BE DONATED AS OF 12/14.
Be sure to check the display or Lost and Found Cabinet to avoid any items being donated.

Earning Money for Turner Creek while you Shop
Did you know that Turner Creek can earn money when you shop at Harris Teeter? Plus it costs you nothing. Simply link your Harris Teeter VIC card to Turner Creek Elementary.
Even if you have done this in the past, you must re-link the card every August in order for the school to continue to benefit. You can do this in one of three ways:
1. By logging into your Harris Teeter account here and adding Turner Creek # 5647 under the Together in Education section
2. By asking the cashier or the customer service desk representative to link your card to our school the next time you visit Harris Teeter
3. By asking your PTA to do it for you. Just email your VIC card # and the last name and phone number associated with your account to fundraising@tce-pta.org
Turner Creek is also enrolled in the Lowes Foods Cart to Class program. You can link your Lowes Foods Fresh Rewards Card to Turner Creek here.
We recently signed up for the Publix Partners program. You can log into your Publix account here and link to Turner Creek in the My Publix Partner section.
Thanks for your support, and please consider asking your friends and family members to link their cards to our school, too.
Send us Pictures for the Yearbook
Have you taken some great pictures of your children's in-school activities or field trips? The TCE Yearbook is looking for candid shots of students and staff to include in this year's yearbook. Please send pictures, along with the class name, to:
Please send pictures at a medium or large size so they can be reproduced well. If you have any questions please email drdocherty@aol.com or kathompson@wcpss.net.
Art Room Donations Needed

From Turner Creek PTA Advocacy Committee
As the largest volunteer child advocacy organization in the nation, National PTA is the conscience of the country for children and youth issues. Through advocacy, as well as family and community education, National PTA has established programs and called for legislation that improves our children’s lives, such as:
- Creation of Kindergarten classes
- Child labor laws
- Public health service
- Hot and healthy lunch programs
- Juvenile justice system
- Mandatory immunization
- Arts in Education
- School Safety
On the local level, there are many ways you can be involved in advocacy efforts. You probably know that there are bi-monthly school board meetings (calendar is here https://www.wcpss.net/Page/3729) but there are also BAC's (Board Advisory Council Meetings). Turner Creek is in District 8, with Lindsey Mahaffey as our representative. The next BAC for District 8 is on January 22 from 6:00-7:30pm at Holly Grove Middle School. The BAC's are a smaller, more intimate meeting. If you would like to join me in attending this event, email Lisa Mead at Advocacy@wakepta.org.
Box Tops and Tyson A+ Labels
Help Us Raise Money for TCE!
Great Job Turner Creek….we collected $564 in Box Tops! The next Box Tops submission date is March 1, 2019. Please make sure they have valid dates (dated 3/1/2019 and beyond). The Box Tops collection bin is in the TCE lobby across from the main office.
Clipping Box Tops is an easy way for you to help our school buy what it needs. Box Tops are each worth 10¢ and they quickly add up to real cash for our school. Here is a link showing participating Box Tops products.
Clip Tyson Project A+ labels from participating Tyson® product packages and send them to school with your child. We’ll collect the labels and send them to Tyson Foods, and Tyson Foods will send our school a check. Each label is worth 24¢!
Please drop your Tyson Project A+ labels in the Box Tops collection bin in the TCE lobby. Here is a link for a list of participating products.
