Ann Richards Star Gazer
October 2015
A great start to our year!
It's hard to believe the first six weeks of school is already coming to a close! But, what a great six weeks it's been!
- 100% of our 6th, 7th and 8th graders as well as many of our High Schoolers have already completed intensive safety training in our Makerspace, learning how to saw, drill and build.
- Many of our seniors are receiving their first college acceptance notifications!
- All of our students are already engaged in challenging, Project-Based learning, including our 6th graders who are designing and building Animal Enrichment devices to be used by their clients (the animals!) at the Austin Zoo.
- Our Fine Arts and Athletic programs are soaring. We're winning volleyball matches, cross country meets, marching band competitions and starring in All-City orchestra performances.

We need your help!
Please help us continue to make our year run smoothly by supporting the following policies or contacting us with questions:
- All students should be in uniform at all times. Please make sure your daughter is wearing black chinos or the ARS skirt if she is in middle school, and tan khakis or the ARS skirt if she is in high school. Please, no skinny jeans or jeggings.
- Support your daughter's healthful habits! Never bring sodas or sweet drinks. Also, bringing desserts to share with other students in not allowed.
- If you're picking your daughter up for an appointment, make a plan for your arrival so she knows when to meet you. Because of the many events that happen during lunch and advisory, it is difficult to find your daughter quickly if she doesn't know you're coming.
- Keep that hair safe! We're providing hair ties to all the students so that they can make sure to tie back their hair when using any power tools or during science labs. Please make sure your daughter always has a hair tie with her!
- Pay your $60.00 PTSA enrichment fee. This one-time fee helps support many of the great trips and opportunities your daughter has throughout the year. Not sure how to pay? Stop by our office and pick up a form, or have your daughter do so.
