Where is the best city-state to place our hotel?
After paying our bills and balancing our checkbooks we began preparing for our debate about the location of our hotel - either Sparta or Athens. Students were given some reading material and could take notes on whether the information was useful or harmful to their side. We put on our Greek Chitons and got right into it. I was so proud of how they listened to each other and either added on to someone's comment or brought up a counter argument. As a class we decided on Sparta (it was kind of a big deal that the women/girls could not leave the house in Athens - they thought that would be very bad for business). For their own personal hotels we agreed to let everyone place it in the city-state of their choosing. We took the time to brainstorm how the design of our hotels might be different based on their location.
With our remaining time we worked on our leadership project, tried out the Lego wall and Rubik cubes.
