October 2018
A Word from Mr. Jerrell
Dear Bain families,
We are almost halfway through the first quarter of the 2018-2019 school year. It has truly been a joy to get to know your students by coming into classrooms to do model lessons or taking the time to eat lunch with as many classes as I can.
Due to school cancellations with Hurricane Florence, we had to reschedule our annual Link to Learning Night to October 11th from 6:00 - 7:00 pm. The first session will last from 6:00 - 6:25 pm and the second session will last from 6:35 - 7:00 pm. This is a great time to understand more about our curriculum and academic expectations for students. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions.
Our teachers are in the process of setting up first quarter Parent-Teacher conferences to discuss the progress of your child. The designated workday for these conferences is Monday, October 31st. Therefore, students will not report to school on that date. Please make every effort to set up a meeting with your child’s teacher. Our goal is to have 100% of all our Bain families attend this conference with your teacher.
Bain PTA is excited that this year we are launching our very 1st Direct Give Campaign, October 1-12, 2018. Our goal is to raise $50,000. Our hope is by keeping 100% of the money in our school, we can alleviate having any other major fundraisers. Please consider donating. In previous years, we have used money raised to build a fabulous outdoor learning center and updated playground equipment. This year, the goal is to spend money on classroom and educational resources such as new technology, STEM activities, and engaging and relevant classroom libraries. The link to donate is https://bainelempta.weebly.com/direct-give.html
We are Bain Proud of all of our students and families for supporting our school. We value your partnership and support of your child and Bain Elementary so that we continue to “Challenge and Prepare All Students For Future Success.”

Socktober
Each year students in Mrs. Gregory’s and Mrs Bevis’ class partner to promote the Kid President inspired Socktober. They collect new socks, underwear, blankets, and personal items for a CMS school in need. This year, along with collecting for a CMS school, they will be collecting for an elementary school in New Hanover County recovering from Hurricane Florence. Please help kids support kids. Donations can be dropped off to Mrs. Gregory’s room - 237, or Mrs. Bevis’ room - 211, through October. It’s time to be awesome!
Congratulations September Terrific Kids!
