This week in Literacy!
*This week we sent home the Theme Test. At home you and your child can discuss the passage and questions together. This beneficial resource is for you and your child to discuss their "glows" and "grows" together; concepts they did well with and concepts that need to be strengthened. No points for corrections will be given, however, we would like the test to be signed and returned.
This week we will begin Theme 11 Week 1- Our Solar System. The comprehension strategy for this week is Infer: Conclusions- Using what you already know, and what you have learned in the text to make good guesses of what is not clearly stated in the text. We will also review Author's Purpose. For grammar, students will review adjectives. The vocabulary for this week includes, crater, speck, perceive, planet, and telescope.
*RAZ-KIDS!
Please make sure your child is reading each night, listening to the stories, and taking the quizzes. Reading for 20 minutes each night is one of the best ways for your child to become a better reader. Third Grade is tracking the number of books read in order for the class to earn incentives, such as a popcorn party! Thank you for your help with this!
This week in Social Studies!
For this four- week unit in Social Studies, students will explain the impact of scarcity on the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services and then create a product. Also, students will write a How-To to explain how to make their product. They will showcase their products to other sections and explain how voluntary exchange benefits both parties.
