BENCHMARK EXAMS

Students in Grades 3 through 5 will be taking the Benchmark Exams the week of March 5 thru March 9 starting at 8:15am. We are asking that all students get a good night's rest, eat a good breakfast and come to school on time. Here is the tentative schedule:


March 5---ELA Benchmark Exam

March 6---Math Benchmark Exam

March 7---Science Benchmark Exam

March 8---Grades 3-5 Benchmark makeup exams

March 9---Grades 3-5 Benchmark makeup exams

FOURTH GRADE FIELD TRIP

Wednesday, March 7th, 10:15am

WHITE OAK HIGH SCHOOL

Fourth grade students will have the opportunity to attend the performance of the North Carolina Symphony on Wednesday, March 7. The performance is sponsored by the Onslow Chapter for the NC Symphony. There is no admission charge for this trip. Permission slips are required for your child to attend, please return those slips to the homeroom teacher.

SECOND GRADE FIELD TRIP

Friday, March 9th, 8:45am

NORTHSIDE HIGH SCHOOL

Second grade students will have the opportunity to attend the performance of "Sleeping Beauty" on Friday, March 9. The performance is sponsored by the Council for the Arts. Admission cost is $5.00 per student.

FIRST GRADE FIELD TRIP

Wednesday, March 14th, 8:30am

PINE KNOLL SHORES AQUARIUM

First grade students will be going to the Pine Knoll Shores Aquarium on Wednesday, March 14. The students will be attending "Sea Turtle Trails" a sea turtle presentation, aquarium tour and then go to Northeast Creek Park for lunch. The cost of this field trip is $5.00.

CITIZENSHIP

This month the character trait for Onslow County Schools is CITIZENSHIP. Students and teachers will be focusing on love of country, respect for law and school rules, patriotism and service to others.

MAGNET SCHOOL LOTTERY RESULTS

Wednesday, March 7th, 4pm

JACKSONVILLE HIGH SCHOOL

Onslow County Schools will be holding the Magnet School Lottery results on Wednesday, March 7 in the Jacksonville High School Cafeteria. This event will take place at 4:00pm. Parent notification letters will be mailed the week of Monday, March 12. The last day to submit the applications was Wednesday, February 28.

STUDENT TRANSPORTATION CHANGES

Parents, this is a reminder that if you need to change your child's transportation for the day, a written note detailing the change is required by the office. Please have your child turn in the note to their teacher in the morning and the teacher will then forward the note to the front office.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH CELEBRATION

We would like to thank everyone that came out to help celebrate Black History Month on Tuesday, February 27. The students enjoyed the stories, readings and songs by our special guests, Emanuel Simmons, Meme Simmons and Sonja Williams.
