Availability of COVID-19 Response Waivers
Updated Nondiscrimination Statement
Updated Crediting Handbook for the Child and Adult Care Program (CACFP)
The Crediting Handbook for the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is an important supplemental companion to the Food Buying Guide that provides information on crediting and meal planning for CACFP operators. Major revisions include the transition to crediting grains in ounce equivalents (oz eq) which went into effect on October 1, 2021. The updated Crediting Handbook for the Child and Adult Care Food Program is available on the Team Nutrition website.
- Printed copies will be available for ordering from Team Nutrition in the Fall.
- The online Spanish-version will be available later this year.

The Summer Meal Programs provide healthy and nutritious meals after the school year ends to children 18 years and younger and enrolled students with disabilities up to 21 years old. The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) has developed no-cost, online resources and printed materials you can use to promote the availability of these meals for families in need. The Food Buying Guide for Child Nutrition
The Food Buying Guide for Child Nutrition Programs (FBG) is the primary resource to determine if a food is creditable.
The Food Buying Guide also includes:
- Program-specific information regarding the meal pattern requirements
- Helpful information related to food purchasing and utilizing food yield information
- Additional resources related to meal pattern requirements and menu planning
The FBG is available as an Interactive Web-based Tool, Mobile App, and downloadable PDF. The digital versions (Web-based Tool and Mobile App) include these additional features: The Recipe Analysis Workbook allows Program operators to determine the meal pattern contribution for standardized recipes. The FBG Calculator allows Program operators to create a shopping list to make ordering and purchasing food for their Programs fast and easy. The Exhibit A Grains Tool easily calculates ounce equivalent (oz eq) grains or grains/breads servings for a grain product. USDA Standardized Recipes
Team Nutrition has developed a variety of standardized recipes for schools and child care settings, which include information on the recipe's meal pattern contribution and nutrient analysis.
CACFP operators can browse through over 40 recipes that are searchable by category for main dishes, side dishes, soups, salads, sandwiches, and breakfasts. The recipes include both 6-serving for childcare and 25 and 50-servings for adult centers.
