INFORMATION CAMPAIGN ABOUT YOUTH VAPING
As a part of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s efforts to educate the public about the dangers of vaping for youth, DPH recently launched a public information campaign for middle and high school aged youth titled Vapes & Cigarettes: Different Products. Same Dangers. The campaign links the dangers of vaping to cigarette smoking, and was developed with the input of middle and high school students across the state.
Different Products. Same Dangers. will feature online and social media ads (Instagram, Snapchat, Spotify, and YouTube). The campaign sends youth to mass.gov/vaping for basic information and resources on the dangers of vaping and encourages them to follow the campaign on Instagram (@GetTheVapeFacts).
For information on how to talk to your kids about vaping and information on what vaping products look like, visit www.GetOutraged.org

Oak Street Academy Students Learn from Cape Cod Woodturners at Cultural Center of Cape Cod
Oak Street Academy students had the chance to work with and learn from the Cape Cod Woodturners at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod. We made pens - some of them from the floorboards of the Kennedy compound in Hyannisport! Our student's work is on display and for sale at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod in Yarmouth! We are so grateful to them all for their support during the year through their Rise and Shine program.

1st All-Cape Cod Special Olympics Game Day hosted at MRHS
MRHS hosted our 1st All-Cape Cod Special Olympics Game Day. More than 25 schools and over 400 athletes and partners participated in the festivities. It was a truly beautiful day, that was full of love and joy. I can’t even put into words how grateful and impressed I am with the students of Monomoy. From the moment the athletes stepped on to the turf, tears of joy were shed on multiple occasions by everyone and hugs were all around!! They surpassed all of my expectations and created a day that was full of heartwarming memories. We received many compliments from other schools and families about the enthusiasm, warm smiles, and helpful hands from our Monomoy students. We should all be proud of the SHORE and SAIL students, Monomoy Best Buddies, student volunteers, and community volunteers.
A sincere thanks to all of Monomoy,
Shana Grogan, SHORE teacher

Athletics Weekly Summary
Written by: Caroline Howard
Howdy folks! It looks like the sun has finally decided to come out and hopefully there’s nothing but warm days ahead of us! Our Sharks have been quite busy this week, so let’s get right down to it!
Last Friday, our Boys Baseball team had a big win over Sturgis East! The boys walked out with a strong score of 5-1, and Coach Porter said there were some incredible plays made by Jamie Routhier, Logan Routhier, Dunkin Ramler, Ian Johnson, Sean Gould and Asa Kline. Way to grab the win boys, nice job!
Friday was also a big day for Junior Lindsay McDonald who won two of her matches to advance to the final eight the following day in the MIAA Individual Tennis Tournament! Lindsay has worked very hard at the sport, and we couldn’t be more proud! Nice job Lindsay!
On Monday, Boys Baseball was back at it with a game against the DY Dolphins. The Sharks came out strong to the ballgame, and ended up crushing the Dolphins 5-2! Way to go boys, nice win! Girls Softball also had a game on Monday against DY, and also took home the win against the Dolphins! The girls showed great plays at the plate, and left the game with a score of 6-5 from a walkoff single in the bottom of the eighth! Nice job girls!
On Tuesday, the Sharks Athletic Department hosted the MIAA Leadership Workshop for the Cape and Islands! This day was filled with useful tools for the athletes from all over the Cape and Islands to apply on and off the field. A very special thank you to Deb and Dana Hult for an amazing experience for our young athletes! An awesome opportunity!
Our Girls Golf team was also on the move on Tuesday with an away match in Duxbury! Boy did someone do something to make Mother Nature mad because it was disgusting out! My jacket is still drying folks! But anyways, the Sharks had a very close match with the undefeated Duxbury Dragons, but in the end, fell 2-4. A big Shark-Shoutout to Jennie Grogan with a win at the #1 seed, and Charlotte Blute with a big win at #5! Way to go girls!
On Tuesday there were also games for Girls Lacrosse and Boys Lacrosse. Both teams faced off against CCA, and both teams walked out with a win! Even in the rainy conditions, the teams fought hard and in the end, hard work pays off! The girls team walked out with a win 19-6, and the boys 16-6. Great games to both teams!
On Wednesday, Softball had a game against SJP to wind down their week, and had a sweet victory 12-0! The girls showed great fielding which made for quick innings and a great game! A big shout out to the teams seniors Sam Barr, Mackenzie Cardillo and Rachel Cardillo! Great work girls, keep it up!
Wednesday also brought around a win for the Girls Golf team over Falmouth. The girls showed consistent putting and chipping throughout their matches, and took the win 5 ½ to ½. A great way to end the regular season girls! Nice job!
Boys and Girls Tennis were back at it on Wednesday with matches against Nantucket. Both teams managed to grab the win 5-0, and the top 7 players all left it out on the court! Shoutouts to both teams seniors Isaiah Stafford, Ben Roza, Hannah Marty, and Molly McKenna for giving their all to their team in their last days in the high school! Nice job!
Thursday was a very important day at MRHS as the Special Olympics filled our hearts with joy and filled our parking lots with people! A big Shark Shoutout to Mrs. Grogan for taking a huge role in leading the Special Olympics for the Cape and Islands! A truly wonderful day for everyone involved!
For sports on Thursday, we had Boys Lacrosse face off against the Cape Cod Tech Crusaders. This was a big game for both teams, but our Sharks swam to victory with a score of 16-9! Way to show them your all boys! Nice win!
Boys Baseball had a game against Nantucket on Thursday, and boy was it a close one! Both teams held each other off for a majority of the game, but in the end, the Sharks scored one run and took home the gold! Nice job boys, way to play hard!
To close out the games this week, Girls Tennis had a match on Thursday against Sturgis West. A beautiful day to be out on the court, the girls gave it their all! Unfortunately in the end, the Sharks fell 4-1. Way to give it you best efforts girls, keep your heads high!
Well, that seems to be all I have for you folks! For our Seniors, today is our last day of regular classes, but definitely not the last day of Spring Sports! Congratulations to the majority of our teams making it to tournament season, you’ve all worked very hard! I’ll see everybody next week! For now, I’m Caroline Howard and Go Sharks!
Special Olympics!
