This week student are learning about the Cuban Missile Crisis and moving into the Civil Rights Movement. Student will discuss both what they were, along with what caused them and their effect. We will review reading comprehension skills and focus on information texts for the remainder of the year.
Be sure to include tuning in their Dent Middle School Registration form and the Graduation Ceremony and something about signing it and returning it no later than Friday, May 13.

Mrs. Slowinski's Scoop
The Forces and Motion study guide will go home with students on Monday. On Tuesday, we will review answers and do a review game. The test will be Wednesday.
The students are busy creating a board game for the end of the year review for science. There are four groups. Each group will have a different subject: Forces and Motion, Ecosystems, Landforms, and Mixtures and Solutions. When each group is finished, the other groups will "play" the board games.

Our focus will be on reviewing science content to prepare for PASS testing. This week, students were placed in groups to create a board game that reviews Ecosystems, Landforms and Oceans, Mixtures and Solutions, and Force and Motion. I look forward to seeing what their creative minds come up with! :)
Ms. Watson's World
In preparation for our Social Studies State PASS test next week, we are working on an integrated study of United States History from 1865 to present. Monday we completed our Cold War study. Then, the rest of this week we will focus on the Civil Rights Movement into current time. Together we will review the highlights of US History as we prepare for next week’s assessment. Each night this week, your child will have SS Homework and 20 minutes of silent reading.
