A Note from Mrs. Pagan

Room 107 is on fire with their learning and participation in class discussions and lessons! We were so excited to have not one but two labs in Science last week! We explored circuits and constructed a series circuit. We then combined with another group and constructed a parallel circuit. This one was a bit harder to construct, but eventually we got it! We drew diagrams in our interactive Science notebooks, and I was very impressed with all of the ways the students showed the Scientific Method. We will be talking more about the Scientific Method next week as we explore electromagnets.

Math has us learning about place value and the value of numbers in the thousands and ten thousands. We will be having a Math test over Topic 3 on Friday. Study guides will be sent home on Monday. Keep practicing those multiplication facts. Long division is just around the corner and knowing those multiplication facts make it so much easier to learn long division!

We learned about writing interesting narrative writing leads to hook the reader. We will perfect our character and plot development this week as we continue working on our creative narrative writing essays.

I just love all of the great literature discussions I hear as we meet everyday to discuss our novels that we are reading! I can really tell that the students are reading and understanding those books.

We are excited for Tim Green, our visiting author, to come on Tuesday! We are reading his book Football Genius and love the suspense he writes at the end of the chapters!

Congratulations to Dane Efird! He received the September character award for our class at the assembly on Thursday! Kaedyn Pierce was awarded the "Star of the Week" certificate and will be our leader next week. Way to go Kaedyn! Cael was our leader last week and did an exceptional job!

These are exciting days in fourth grade! Thank you, parents, for your support and help! Have a beautiful week!
