Macleans Primary School Newsletter
Wednesday22 March
Macleans Primary School Community
Hi Everyone
Thanks to everyone who expressed their support to the school and teachers for the 1 day teacher's strike last week. We do hope the Government meets the teachers claims for the next Collective Agreement.
It is a very busy week this week for half the school as the Y4-Y6 are all engaged in their Education Outside the Classroom experiences (EOTC). The Y4's are at Sonshine Ranch,; 5's sleepover at school tomorrow night and E.Beach on Friday; and the Y6's are at Chosen Valley Camp until Friday. I visited the Y6 camp today and I will enjoy some time with the Y5 team on Thursday night and Friday at E.Beach. All of these activities are a great example of our home-school partnership as we need parent help to make these events happen. We are all so thankful for the parents support we receive as it enables us to run some really great extra-curricula activities for the kids. THANKS!
For the Y1-3 team, they are all fully engrossed in their biology studies on life-cycles, mini bugs and habitats.
Parent conferences are coming up on Monday 3 and Tuesday 4 April - see more details below.
Our home-school partnership (mahi tahi) extends to a parent's maths and literacy session for Y1-Y3 on Wednesday 29 March from 9.15 to 10.30 in the staffroom. The Y4-Y6 is early on in Term 2 on Wednesday 3 May at the same time. More details on these events have and will be sent home
Enjoy the newsletter!
Regards & Nga Mihi

The first part of the new fencing has gone up on Udall Place and around the parking lot. Please do not use the parking lot as a thoroughfare. Interschool Cricket
Another 2 wins at the interschool cricket means the team has won 6 in a row. Wow! The next event for the dynamic batsman and brilliant bowlers is a test match versus the blackcaps (just kidding! :))) The next 'real' game for the team is on Tuesday 28 March. We have two games against Owairoa and Our Lady Star of the Sea to determine the overall winner of the interschool competition. Good luck team!
Basketball Coach Wanted
Macleans Primary needs an after-school basketball coach. A basic understanding of the game is all that is needed:))). You do not need to be an expert at all. Wednesday's 4.30-5.30 and Thursdays at varying times in the evenings for games. If you can help, please get in contact with Keryn Churches on: k.churches@macleansprimary.school.nz

Macleans Primary Art on Display in the Hall: Swimming, Tigers and Modigliani
R9 Swimming
Inspired by artist David Hockney, R9 have gone swimming! Hockney loved his bright colours and pastels, and so do R9 as their swimming pictures have captured the elements of a 'Hockney' very well!
R1 Tigers
R1 are going on a tiger hunt! Well, not actually but metaphorically! We would probably need some extra-long H + S documents and parent permission if they went on a real tiger hunt! :))). These tiger faces are so detailed. Well done R1!
R23 Modigliani Art
Amedeo Clemente Modigliani was an Italian painter and sculptor who worked mainly in France. He is known for portraits in a modern style characterised by a surreal elongation of faces, necks, and figures that were not received well during his lifetime, but later became much sought-after. These Modigliani faces by R23 are definitely 'well-received'. Great job R23!
