“Judge a man not by the color of his skin, but by the content of his character.” - Martin Luther King, Jr.
A Reflection From Our Art Teacher, Mrs Pickering
As we study color and color schemes in art, each student was given a small rectangle this week containing only abstract black lines to color. The individual rectangles were then taped together to reveal a surprise (and colorful!) image of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. for each class.
These art displays remind us of our beauty and uniqueness, and that no matter what we look like on the outside - no matter the color of our skin - we all deserve love and respect.

Booster seats for your child on Mondays for Winter Sports.
Dear Parents:
We need to remind everyone to please make sure to drop off a booster seat for your child on Mondays for Winter Sports.
As a school, we must ensure 1) the safety of your children and 2) compliance with Vermont State Law. Where all Winter Sports activities are located in VT, we are compelled to follow VT law. Current Vermont Law states:
Child Car Seat Laws
All kids who weigh over 20 lbs and are 1 through 7 years old must ride in either a child safety seat or a booster seat.
Kids between 8 to 15 years old must ride in a child passenger restraint system, or use a seat belt.
**If your child does not normally use a booster seat in your own vehicle, but they fall within the 1-7 age range, we would ask that you make arrangements for the next few weeks to borrow from someone. If that cannot happen, please come speak with someone in the front office.
**If you simply forgot, please please come up with a way to remind yourself before driving away. Set an alarm or use a post it note on your child’s backpack etc.
Thank you so much for your understanding and cooperation.
Mark your calendars.... GO SAINTS!
We only have a few games left so please come out and support our basketball team if you are free!

The program culminates with a celebratory 5K event in May. We need your help to make this program a success!
If you are ready to make a difference in the lives of our girls, please consider volunteering as a coach! For more information, contact Tammy Richards at tamikoch1@yahoo.com.

Fight the Winter Doldrums!
Fend off the winter doldrums and enjoy some good company and good conversation by joining the SMS Great Books Group. The GBG (GEE-BEE-GEE) is a newly formed adult reading group offering adults in the Saint Michael school and parish communities the opportunity to enjoy and be enriched by the great literature of western civilization. There is no cost or obligation to join the group.
The Great Books Reading group will meet next on Tuesday, January, 29, 2019 from 7:00 - 8:30 PM at St. Michael School to continue a discussion of Walter van Tilburg Clark’s classic short story The Portable Phonograph. Missed the first reading? No worries! Clark’s work is a short story and can easily be read in less than a hour. Copies are available at no cost at the back of the parish church or in the business office of saint Michael Catholic School. Come join us!
