Weaver Lake Family Newsletter
March 2022
Message from the Principal
Greetings Weaver Lake Families,
It’s hard to believe that March is almost here. We will hopefully see some warmer weather which means no more indoor recess!! All of us will be grateful for that.
We are looking forward to seeing you all this week at parent-teacher conferences which are scheduled for March 1, 3, & 8. The Scholastic Book Fair will also be up and running so come and check out the books!
The district sent out a message last week that we have shifted to face coverings/masks being recommended (not required) at all schools and program sites starting Monday, February 28. Masks are still required for those completing day 6 - 10 of quarantine, bus riders, and in the nurse's office. Each staff member’s and student’s individual choice on face coverings/masks will be supported. As our core values state, all schools and program sites are inclusive and respectfully accept diverse perspectives.
Thank you for your support as we continue to navigate through this year as “normally” as possible. I’m proud of how the Weaver Lake STEM community continues to work together as a team.
Lena Christiansen, Principal

Update From Volunteer Coordinator
Hello Weaver Lake Elementary Volunteers!
It’s been a busy winter and is shaping up to be a busy spring filled with volunteer opportunities. The spring Scholastic Book Fair is running from February 28-March 9. We need volunteers each day of the bookfair to help students find the books they would like and to run the cash registers so they can pay for their purchases. No experience is needed, so please consider volunteering for this fun event! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0f48aaa72eaafecf8-spring
Fifth grade families should also watch their email for more information about the JA Biz Town interviews and field trip. We will need many volunteers to make this event a success. If you’re not already registered as a volunteer, please fill out the volunteer application to ensure that you receive information about this! https://apps.raptortech.com/Apply/Nzg0OmVuLVVT
Thank you to everyone who has already volunteered this year, and to those who are about to. So many of the things we ask for help with cannot be done without your generosity. Our volunteers have put in about 850 hours this year! To think that last year that number was at 0 is quite the achievement. I’m looking forward to being able to celebrate this later in the school year at our volunteer appreciation event!

Recess
With the winter weather, please make sure your student is dressed appropriately to be outside for 30 minutes at recess. Most days this will include boots, snow pants, winter coats, hats and mittens/gloves. Please mark all winter clothing items with the student’s name. ALL students will go outside for recess unless they have a note from their physician stating the reason they need to stay inside and the duration of the limitation.
Indoor recess will be held with the temperature at lunchtime is below 0 degrees and the wind-chill falls below -5 degrees.
End of Day Transportation & Student Pick-Ups
Please call the Office before 3:30pm if there is a change to your student’s end of day routine. Families may dial 763-420-3337, press #0 to speak with the Office Staff to have a student placed on the End of Day Pick Up List.
