Parents and Pastries

Teacher Wish Lists
We will have the ever popular “Teacher Wish List'' available again. When you visit the book fair, you will see books the teachers would like to receive for their classrooms. Please consider buying a book for teachers in order to help build their classroom libraries.
Volunteer to HELP!
We would love (and need!) your help running the book fair. It’s a fun way to see the kids enjoy shopping for books. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0D45A8AB28A6F94-book
Donate Books
During the book fair we will collect gently used books for our sister school, Dover Elementary in San Pablo. This is a wonderful way to encourage your children to give back!
As always, our Scholastic Book Fair promises to be a great event to support the Alamo PTA and your family’s love of reading. We hope to see everyone there!

Volunteers needed: We have an immediate need for a ThinkWorks Director in order to continue to have classes this Spring/Summer! Please email Lauren Cymerys at alamo.edfund@srvef.org if you would like additional information on this position and what it entails. Serving on the board is a great way to help the school and your student(s), get a behind-the-scenes look at how decisions are made, and meet other dedicated and involved parents at Alamo!
5 Little Monkeys toy store giveback: Support a local business and the Ed Fund! Shop March 1-15 and Five Little Monkeys will donate 15% of the pre-tax total back to the Ed Fund. Use code ALAMO22 for in-store or online purchases. We must have a minimum of 3 shoppers or $200 in sales to qualify. They have 6 Bay Area stores, so share the code with any local family members or friends! See here for details.
GrowFit Camps: GrowFit Multi-Sports Day Camp at East Bay Sports will donate 10% of every Spring or Summer camp purchase when you use the discount code ALAMO2022 at checkout. See here for details.
Sports Basement: It’s time for spring skiing and youth sports seasons! If you shop at Sports Basement and join their Basementeer program, you receive 10% off your order and 10% goes back to the charity of your choice. Select “Alamo Elementary-Alamo-SRVEF” to benefit the Alamo Education Fund!
Amazon Wish Lists: Don’t forget to check out our Amazon Wish List for items our teachers would like in their classrooms! There are lots of items listed for Beem/Bohannan, Johnson, Fettig, Mayer and Pavon/3rd grade team.
Your Ed Fund Dollars at Work: We are busy taking photos of many of our staff members who are supported by your donations to the Ed Fund. Since parent access to campus is still quite limited, many of these individuals’ efforts are not as visible as in the past, but they are working harder than ever! This week we are highlighting Mrs. Angle, our Instrumental Music and Chimes Director.

Mrs. Angle
Mrs. Angle is the Instrumental Music Director at Alamo School. Students in fourth and fifth grade can learn to play the flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, percussion (5th) or violin. Mrs. Angle also teaches two groups of chimers in grades 3 through 5. The chimers play in 3 to 4 concerts annually, and this year are learning to compose.
Mrs. Angle is passionate about students learning to work together to play in bands and orchestras. "It is such a wonderful opportunity for them and it is so much fun." She works at Alamo school approximately 6 hours a week, and has taught music to our students for 13 years. This year the Education Fund funds the chimes program that Mrs. Angle runs.
Thank you, Mrs. Angle!

PTA
We hope everyone enjoyed their 4 day weekend!
As a reminder, we are actively looking for volunteers to join the PTA for the 2022-23 school year. We have so many fun things planned for our kids, but we will not be able to continue to do them if we don’t get volunteer support. Please email dianafinster@gmail.com if you want to continue to see the fun events the PTA brings to our school. See the Nominating Committee section below for descriptions of open positions.
The Scholastic Bookfair returns to Alamo School! Fostering a love of reading is one of the very best things you can do for a child. It builds confidence, imagination, and critical life skills. Thank you to the volunteers who have signed up to help! We still need volunteers in order to hold book fair hours. Please sign up here to help.

Please consider giving less than an hour of your day by signing up here.
The Hoedown is coming April 22 to Alamo!!! This is THE family favorite for our school! We need Hoedown event committee volunteers. Email michesinnott@gmail.com or ehamilton@srvusd.net for more information!
