ADMINISTRATION UPDATE
Dear CCS Families,
It seems as though Spring has finally sprung! The longer hours of daylight, rising temperatures and presence of mud have our students energized and on the move as much as possible. This has been a very fun, festive week of learning at CCS. Some highlights of this week included:
● The CVU chorus coming to give a short performance for students in 6th-8th grade choirs on Wednesday;
● The CCS Concert Choir traveled to the Charlotte Senior Center on Wednesday to present a concert;
● A live conversation with Scott Black, the Deputy Program Executive for the Mars 2020 Rover mission with NASA, helped us launch the 6th grade’s work involving NASA and the International Space Station. Students will work to understand a research project being done on the ISS, and create a presentation to help others understand it as well;
● First graders investigating how vibration creates sound; and
● Champ greeting students as they entered school on Friday morning!
Next week will be the first week of SBAC assessments at CCS, beginning with Grades 7 and 8. Your student’s teacher(s) will be letting you know when their classes will be doing SBAC, as the assessment window extends through May. It is important for students and families to remember that the best preparation for an assessment is the same as the best preparation for school - adequate sleep, good nutrition and enough time to play and exercise! During SBAC testing, CCS also provides additional opportunities for snacks, rest and play to support students in feeling and doing their best.
Warm Regards,
Stephanie, Jen and Cassandra
