Stay tuned for some exciting student activities with Junior Achievement:
- On January 23 students from Mr. May’s Civics class and Mr. Parkinson’s Business Professional of America group will attend SPARK. This is a one-day youth entrepreneur summit for our students. It is designed to introduce students to business building concepts while participating in interactive activities. This event is being held at the Jackson College.
We will have a team of students from the Business Professionals of America group led by Mr. Parkinson participate in IGNITE. The group of students is assigned a Business Mentor to help them develop and refine a business model. The teams commit to working together 2 hours a week for 6 weeks. Junior Achievement provides online learning modules so students develop the skills needed to create their idea. IGNITE kicks off January 29-March 16 and will take place at Columbia Central.
The final stage for the IGNITE team is to participate in LAUNCH. This is a Shark Tank style competition where the teams meet before a panel of judges to give an oral presentation of their business concept. The overall winning team receives scholarship money, prizes and is able to showcase their business in the Student Business Marketplace. LAUNCH is held on Saturday, March 17 at Baker College.
