Rocco's Corner
I applaud all of our teams for spreading out and supervising our students so well.
I learned one thing new after complimenting the Panthers, regarding the boys and football.
Not just two hand touch instead of tackling, but no rushing the Quarterback either.
I think that is the safest way for us to allow them to play.
The remarkable drop in referred incidents we have had this year compared to the last, is largely because of our drastic increase in recces time. Great job Wildcats! Rock on 2017!

Counselor's Corner
This Friday, January 6, please pass out the 6th grade elective registration form and course description. You may staple this to the other papers we handed you. You will need to give students time to look at this because we didn't give every student a chance to look at the form during our presentation. We will explain the forms and information in PE on Thursday, January 5, to all 5th graders but they will need to take a few minutes to look at it. The students will need to return the registration form on Friday, January 13th to their Success teacher. Please check off the name when the student returns the form and then turn in all forms you collected on January 13. Please let parents know in your weekly communication about the elective form due date - January 13. We have included the information also on the Oakwood counselor website.
6th grade teachers:
Please attach the yellow postcard to the report cards on Friday. AMCMS is not going to mail this postcard home this year. Please include the postcard information in your weekly communication as well. You may staple this information with the other papers we handed you.
All teachers:
Please send home the cover letter and TEA 2015-16 School Report Card with the report cards.
Behavior Tip of the Week: Lack of Compliance and Following Directions
Be sure the directions you give (i.e. those that the students are expected to comply with) are clear and consistent.
Develop a consistent pattern of responding to noncompliance using a "precision requests."
Use reinforcement to encourage appropriate behavior.
