EdPlan - Update to Section 6 (State Assessments)
The state is shaking it up a bit for the Spring 2018 assessments. They have added one pilot assessment (Science Field Test) to grades 5 and 8 (removing Science for grades 4 and 7). To address this, PCG has updated EdPlan in Section 6 under State assessments. All grade levels have been changed to "3-8" next to the test subject area. I would encourage you to select based on the guidance below.
Proposed changes at this time:
Grades 3 and 4: ELA and Math
Grades 5 & 8: ELA, Math, Science Field test, Social Studies
Grades 6 & 7: ELA and Math
Please continue to include the current year, and the next year, even if the IEP will not cover the current testing window dates - those change at times too!
We will continue to use the state assessment selection tool for decision making (you have this already). I found a document (link below) that had a nice guide for parents as well that may be useful when having those conversations.

Parent/Teacher Conferences
Child Find - Did you know?
- referrals from doctor offices, day cares, preschools , Early On, Project find, etc... that indicate a concern to parent that there may be a need for further evaluation
- parent requests for evaluation
- 'noticing' siblings when meeting with parents, extending conversations to them for any parent concerns and/or the child's participation in Headstart, GSRP, etc...
- Screening activities - Preschool and Kindergarten round-up screenings, health department vision/hearing screenings, speech and language screenings, Title I screenings
- Child Study Teams, Student Assistance Teams, through documented conversation, documented interventions, and subsequent data
Each of these helps us in meeting our obligation to constantly and vigilantly identify students of any age who may have a disability that may require supports and services.
Thank you for continuing to help us "Child Find" students of all ages!
